MOSLEMS, MOSLEMS, MOSLEMS

Muslims join hands to seek better deal
By OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT
http://www.asianage.com/presentation/leftnavigation/news/india/muslims-join-hands-to-seek-better-deal.aspx

New Delhi, July 30: Several prominent Muslim organisations have now joined hands to seek a better deal for the Muslim community in terms of their socio-economic betterment. Clearly unhappy with what they say is the UPA government's failure so far to improve the lot of the country's Muslims, these organisations have come together under the banner of the Joint Committee of Muslim Organisations for Empowerment (JCMOE). Among the organisations that have come together under the umbrella JCMOE are the Jamiat Ulama-I-Hind, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Moemin (Movement for Empowerment if Muslim Indians), the All-India Shia Conference, the Students Islamic Organisation and the All-India Muslim Education Society.

The joint committee's convenor is former member of Parliament, Syed Shahabuddin, of the All-India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat. In the light of the Sachar committee recommendations, the joint committee has drawn up a charter of demands which it wants the Centre to implement. For instance, it wants the recognition of the Muslim community as a Backward class under Article 15(4) of the Constitution on the basis of data that has been collected by the Sachar panel. It also wants the Central government to have a separate sub-plan for the Muslim community, similar to the one already in place for SCs and STs.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Mr Shahabuddin said that in the light of the Sachar committee report, the Ranganath Misra Commission report and the Prime Minister's new 15-point programme for the welfare of minorities, the Muslim community had been hopeful that something would be done for their benefit. "But there are anti-minority forces in the country that want the status quo to be maintained," alleged Mr Shahabuddin.

Among the others demands of the joint committee are reservation in government jobs for Muslims. this reservation should be at all levels and be in proportion to the size of their population in a zone. The committee also wants that qualified Muslims should be nominated against discretionary appointments in the higher echelons of the judiciary, in Public Service Commissions, universities, public sector undertakings, corporations, etc.

The committee has also demanded that the representation of Muslims in state legislatures and panchayati raj institutions can be increased by appropriate emarcation, rotation of reservation for SC/ST, dereservation of Muslim concentration constituencies and double-member constituencies. The joint committee would now like the government to build a national consensus on what needs to be done to improve the lot of the Muslim community. And in order to press its demands, it plans to observe a dharna outside Parliament House on August 14 followed by a huge rally in in early September.

A FORGOTTEN SOLDIER WHO SACRIFICED HIS LIFE FOR THIS COWARDLY NATION

Dear Sir/Madam,

SPARE 5-MINUTES from ur busy schedule .PLEASE !!!

Lt. Saurabh Kalia of 4 JAT Regiment of the Indian Army laid down his
life at the young age of 22 for the nation while guarding the
frontiers at Kargil.
His parents, indeed the Indian Army and nation itself,
lost a dedicated, honest and brave son.
He was the first officer to detect and inform about
Pakistani intrusion. Pakistan captured him and his patrol party of 5
brave men alive on May 15, 1999 from the Indian side of LOC.
They were kept in captivity for three weeks and
subjected to unprecedented brutal torture, evident from their bodies handed over
by Pakistan Army on June 9, 1999.
The Pakistanis indulged in dastardly acts of inflicting burns on these Indian officers with cigarettes, piercing their ears with hot rods, removing their eyes before puncturing them and breaking most of the bones and teeth.
They even chopped off various limbs and private organs of the Indian soldiers besides inflicting unimaginable physical and mental torture.

After 22 days of torture, the brave soldiers were ultimately shot dead. A detailed post-mortem report is with the Indian Army. Pakistan dared to humiliate India this way flouting all international norms.
They proved the extent to which they can degrade humanity. However, the Indian soldiers did not break while undergoing all this unimaginable barbarism, which speaks volumes of their patriotism, grit, determination, tenacity and valour - something all of India should be proud of.
Sacrificing oneself for the nation is an honour every soldier would be proud of, but no parent, army or nation can accept what happened to these brave sons of India. I am afraid every parent may think twice to send their child in the armed forces if we all fall short of our duty in safeguarding the PRISONERS OF WAR AND LET THEM MEET THE FATE OF LT.SAURABH KALIA.
It may also send a demoralising signal to the army personnel fighting for the Nation that our POWs in Pak cannot be taken care of. It is a matter of shame and disgust that most of Indian Human Rights Organisations by and large, showed apathy in this matter.

Through this humble submission, may I appeal to all the civilized people irrespective of colour, caste, region, religion and political lineage to stir their conscience and rise to take this as a NATIONAL ISSUE !!!
International Human Rights Organizations must be approached to expose and pressure Pakistan to identify, book and punish all those who perpetrated this heinous crime to our men in uniform.
If Pakistan is allowed to go unpunished in this case, we can only imagine the consequences.
Below is the list of 5 other soldiers who preferred to die for the country rather than open their mouths in front of enemy -

BEEF DIET DAMAGES SPERM OF THE SON

BBC NEWS
Beef diet 'damages sons' sperm'
Scientists have produced evidence to suggest that Europe was right to ban the beef industry from using growth promoters to increase yield.

A US study has linked use of the chemicals to damage to human sperm.

The University of Rochester found men whose mothers ate a lot of beef during pregnancy had lower sperm counts.

The Human Reproduction study found they were three times more likely to have a sperm count so low they could be classified as sub-fertile.

It confirms that Europe was justified to ban the use of these hormones when they did
Dr Allan Pacey
University of Sheffield

The use of growth promoting chemicals was banned in Europe in 1988.

But although the US banned the use of some growth promoters in 1979, others, such as the sex hormones testosterone and progesterone, are still in use in the beef industry.

The Rochester team examined sperm counts among US men born between 1949 and 1983.

They found those whose mothers ate more than seven beef meals a week had an average sperm concentration of 43.1 million sperm per millilitre of seminal fluid.

In contrast, the sons of mothers who ate less beef had an average of 56.9 million sperm.

Fertility threshold

GROWTH PROMOTERS
Six growth promoters are legally in use in the US:
Natural steroids:
estradiol
testosterone
progesterone
Synthetic hormones:
zeranol
trenbolene acetate
melengestrol acetate

Among sons of mothers who ate a lot of beef, 17.7% had a sperm concentration below the World Health Organization sub-fertility threshold of 20 million sperm per millilitre of seminal fluid. The figure for the sons of lower beef consumers was 5.7%.

Lead researcher Professor Shanna Swan said the findings suggested that exposure to growth promoters contained in the beef eaten by the boys' mothers was to blame.

However, she admitted the research team had no specific data on which chemicals the meat contained, and conceded other possible causes, such as exposure to pesticides, or lifestyle factors could not be ruled out.

She said: "Theoretically, the foetus and young children are particularly sensitive to exposure to sex steroids.

"Therefore, the consumption of residues of steroids in meat by pregnant women and young children is of particular concern."

Professor Swan said to pin down the role of growth promoters the study would have to be repeated in men born in Europe after 1988.

Damaging effects

EU POSITION
Hormonal growth promoters banned in EU in 1988
UK government runs a system of surveillance for residues of such substances in UK cattle to monitor compliance with the ban
EU law bans meat from hormonally treated animals being exported to the EU by non-member countries

Dr Allan Pacey, senior lecturer in andrology at the University of Sheffield, said: "Even though males don't start producing sperm until puberty, it is during the time in their mother's womb, and in the early years of their life as an infant, that the testicles develop their capacity to produce sperm.

"Scientists have been concerned for a number of years that oestrogen mimicking chemicals in water supplies, plastics or make-up can affect the critical stages in the development of young boys' testicles.

"In extreme cases of exposure, this could lead to sperm counts in adult men that are low enough to be the cause of infertility

"That hormones given to cattle might have lowered the sperm counts of adult men because their mothers ate a lot of beef when they were pregnant with them is alarming to say the least.

"But it confirms that Europe was justified to ban the use of these hormones when they did."

Professor Alastair Hay, an expert on environmental toxicology at the University of Leeds, said one weakness of the study was that it relied on women being able accurately to recall how much beef they had eaten during pregnancy - something which may have happened many years earlier.

TURKEY GOING BACK TO GODLINESS

Hi Shero,

Turkey just had an election and the national party won. Great news for the people of Turkey. Turkey returns to Islam. That will be the end of Turkey trying to enter the European Union. All those US military bases in Turkey -- how much longer will they be allowed to remain? How can the US attack Iran if they cannot have bases in Turkey? Maybe the US will attack from Pakistan. We will see. Interesting developments in the Middle East.

If you want to read more from the Israeli writer Israel Shamir, just enter his name into your Google search engine. A great man and a great and honest writer. Not many of them left.

Our Congratulations To The People Of Turkey
from Israel Shamir – July 27, 2007

Our congratulations to the people of Turkey on the election victory of the Islamic Party! This is a fateful event: the East returns to God, and finds its own way. Istanbul has followed Gaza: the AKP-ruled Turkey will be a friend to Hamas-ruled Palestine, to Islamic Iran, to Orthodox Greece and Russia, to the religious anti-occupation forces of nearby Iraq. She will again take her place of pride as the centerpiece of the Eastern mosaic, while its pro-American and God-hating generals, the Turkish Dahlans, will creep back to their barracks. Faith in God unites us, while the nationalists had divided us.

The legacy of Ataturk, this overlong infatuation with nationalist doctrines, overstayed its welcome. This founder of rump-Turkey came to power in a country decimated by the results of the WWI. Turkey suffered the fate of Austria: both countries were dismembered by the victorious Anglo-Americans. Both gave birth to ferociously nationalist leaders: Adolf Hitler was as anti-religious and as nationalist as Kemal Ataturk. They were not alone: equally anti-religious regimes came to power in Russia and Mexico. Ataturk was prone to drink his fiery raki at Ramadan in the public places to show his disdain of the faith, while Lenin spoke scornfully of 'bozhenka', goddie (almost doggie). At the other end of the world, Japanese and Chinese revolted against Buddha.

Today, it is easy to blame Ataturk and his predecessors, the Young Turks. They liaised with the dark forces, with Zionists, with Western imperialists, even with the then-strong Masons. They destroyed the centuries-long base of the Turkish Empire. They destroyed the language and the culture of Turkey. Instead of historic Arab graphics, they enforced the use of Latin letters and made millions of Turks illiterate. Their new way of spelling created a chasm with the old literature and with neighboring Islamic cultures. They privatized the lands and created a new landless class. But this account-taking is not needed now.

Moreover, one can understand them. The old regimes failed to protect the East from the Western onslaught, and in a way, people punished their God for this failure, even coming to prefer the more effective Western God of cash-and-carry. There was an urgent need to modernize the administration and the army, and to find a new language more suited to Western ideas. The faith was considered a pillar of the old regime, so it had to go. Still, let us be fair: by withstanding the Armenian, Greek and British offensives, Ataturk saved some of what could be saved, though he lost much of what needed to be preserved.

This development was a tragic but mercifully a short-lived one. The people of the East had a run of unbridled freedom, like schoolchildren when the teacher leaves the classroom. Very soon they discovered that the place of the strict teacher was taken by the strongest ruffian, and their freedom was just a temporary illusion. Under the followers of Ataturk, Turkey was colonized by the US; NATO bases sprung up on its shore and the Sixth Fleet found a home away from home in its harbors. Turkey became a close friend of the Zionist state, even though Zionists contributed greatly to the destruction of the Ottoman Empire. This part of history was forgotten, while the story of 'the Arab betrayal' was artificially promoted and spread.

Persecution of the faithful in Turkey lasted longer than anywhere on earth. The Russians repaired their churches, and the Japanese went back to their jinjas, but the Turks still could not grow a beard or wear national dress. Chomsky's translator (and mine, too), our friend Fatima, could wear her chador only on a visit in the US, if not in the privacy of her home. Now hopefully this remnant of the old repression will disappear, and the Turks will be able to grow beards like Che Guevara.

The bigger problem of the nationalist regime was its lack of solidarity. The national elites did not care enough for the people, whether in Turkey or in Palestine – they were more interested in securing free access to Europe's playground than in promoting the ordinary people's wellbeing. The believers, the ordinary people of Turkey and Palestine, had to form their own grass-roots associations to protect their vital interests. Out of these associations, the Islamic parties spread forth. They are the true expression of the people's will, and hopefully they will remain uncorrupted.

This victory is very important for Palestine, where the freely elected government of Hamas was made impotent by Israel and by docile Americans and Europeans. Now there is a chance of breaking the Zionist blockade. This is an important victory for the whole world, for an Islamic Turkey won't help the US in its impending attack on Iran. Hopefully the Turks will forbid the US to use its bases and harbors, thereby squashing the invasion plans.

The nationalist parties failed in a big way: they blocked the legally elected Islamic party from rightfully nominating a new President, and went complaining to Europe, thus severely undermining the main achievement of Kemal Ataturk. Before causing more harm, they should look at the example of their brethren, the FLN generals in Algeria and the Fatah warlords in Palestine, who denied rightfully won electoral victory to godly parties, caused civil wars and earned much hate from the people by totally embezzling the their moral assets. There are Western forces that are ready to support any bloodthirsty general on condition that he will not allow people's will to be realized, but a wise man won't take this bait.

The Islamic Party AKP is not homogeneous – there are pro-American and pro-Eastern elements, so its victory is just a beginning, rather than the end. Our friends in the Party may be certain of mass support, if they stick to their independent line: warm friendship with Palestine, Iran and Russia, full cooperation with neighbouring Greece and Syria, firm protection of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, wholehearted rejection of the occupation regime in Iraq including its Kurdish proxy, generous support of friendly Islamic movements in the ex-Ottoman Empire, including Hezbollah and the Muslim Brotherhood. They will belie the Judaeo-American claim of "tyrannical Islam" by creating a solidarist, just, human and tolerant society.

There will be many changes in the East. If our enemies win, the East will disintegrate into a jigsaw puzzle of warlords and ganglands. This is what they did with the Ottoman Empire, this is what they did with Iraq, this is what they do in Palestine and plan to do in Iran. But today, after these elections, this development is not the only possible one. The AKP victory is a turning point, away from West-forced disintegration towards a new integration of the East.

EVIL AND PUNISHMENT

Chapter 9 - Evil
116. If a man would hasten towards the good, he should keep his thought away from evil; if a man does what is good slothfully, his mind delights in evil.

117. If a man commits a sin, let him not do it again; let him not delight in sin: pain is the outcome of evil.

118. If a man does what is good, let him do it again; let him delight in it: happiness is the outcome of good.

119. Even an evil-doer sees happiness as long as his evil deed has not ripened; but when his evil deed has ripened, then does the evil-doer see evil.

120. Even a good man sees evil days, as long as his good deed has not ripened; but when his good deed has ripened, then does the good man see happy days.

121. Let no man think lightly of evil, saying in his heart, It will not come nigh unto me. Even by the falling of water-drops a water-pot is filled; the fool becomes full of evil, even if he gather it little by little.

122. Let no man think lightly of good, saying in his heart, It will not come nigh unto me. Even by the falling of water-drops a water-pot is filled; the wise man becomes full of good, even if he gather it little by little.

123. Let a man avoid evil deeds, as a merchant, if he has few companions and carries much wealth, avoids a dangerous road; as a man who loves life avoids poison.

124. He who has no wound on his hand, may touch poison with his hand; poison does not affect one who has no wound; nor is there evil for one who does not commit evil.

125. If a man offend a harmless, pure, and innocent person, the evil falls back upon that fool, like light dust thrown up against the wind.

126. Some people are born again; evil-doers go to hell; righteous people go to heaven; those who are free from all worldly desires attain Nirvana.

127. Not in the sky, not in the midst of the sea, not if we enter into the clefts of the mountains, is there known a spot in the whole world where death could not overcome (the mortal).

To top

Chapter 10 - Punishment
129. All men tremble at punishment, all men fear death; remember that you are like unto them, and do not kill, nor cause slaughter.

130. All men tremble at punishment, all men love life; remember that thou art like unto them, and do not kill, nor cause slaughter.

131. He who seeking his own happiness punishes or kills beings who also long for happiness, will not find happiness after death.

132. He who seeking his own happiness does not punish or kill beings who also long for happiness, will find happiness after death.

133. Do not speak harshly to anybody; those who are spoken to will answer thee in the same way. Angry speech is painful, blows for blows will touch thee.

134. If, like a shattered metal plate (gong), thou utter not, then thou hast reached Nirvana; contention is not known to thee.

135. As a cowherd with his staff drives his cows into the stable, so do Age and Death drive the life of men.

136. A fool does not know when he commits his evil deeds: but the wicked man burns by his own deeds, as if burnt by fire.

137. He who inflicts pain on innocent and harmless persons, will soon come to one of these ten states:

138. He will have cruel suffering, loss, injury of the body, heavy affliction, or loss of mind,

139. Or a misfortune coming from the king, or a fearful accusation, or loss of relations, or destruction of treasures,

140. Or lightning-fire will burn his houses; and when his body is destroyed, the fool will go to hell.

141. Not nakedness, not platted hair, not dirt, not fasting, or lying on the earth, not rubbing with dust, not sitting motionless, can purify a mortal who has not overcome desires.

142. He who, though dressed in fine apparel, exercises tranquillity, is quiet, subdued, restrained, chaste, and has ceased to find fault with all other beings, he indeed is a Brahmana, an ascetic (sramana), a friar (bhikshu).

143. Is there in this world any man so restrained by humility that he does not mind reproof, as a well-trained horse the whip?

144. Like a well-trained horse when touched by the whip, be ye active and lively, and by faith, by virtue, by energy, by meditation, by discernment of the law you will overcome this great pain (of reproof), perfect in knowledge and in behaviour, and never forgetful.

145. Well-makers lead the water (wherever they like); fletchers bend the arrow; carpenters bend a log of wood; good people fashion themselves

Myth shattered about Muslims

In Britain a group of Muslim doctors and medical students were arrested in connection with a series of attempts to murder thousands of innocent people waiting to board aircraft or, sin of sins, dancing in a club.

Commentators were incredulous that people of science sworn to do none harm should apparently act thus. Fools. The doctors' unions in Egypt and Jordan are dominated by the Muslim Brotherhood, a fascist group that preaches jihad. The second in command of Al Qaida is a pediatrician and one of the founders of Hamas a surgeon.

The idea that poverty and oppression produce psychotic mass murderers has always been a patronizing illusion. Egyptian universities churn out fundamentalist fanatics, the Saudi middle class is riddled with extremism.

But none of this would happen, argue the appeasers, if America and Israel left the Middle East alone. Tell this to the Christians of Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Hindus and North Africa. They had done nothing to provoke the Islamic armies that invaded their countries, imposed Muslim rule, converted at sword-point and humiliated those who remained Christian and Jewish as second-class citizens.

Yet still in the west we hear the usual moans. There is fundamentalism in all religions, they say, and we should be careful not to judge. Well, next time I'm at the airport I'll make sure to look around for any Christian, Jewish, Hindu or Buddhist fundamentalists who are obsessed with slaughtering me and my children.
Britain, just like Canada and any other non-Islamic state, is considered to be part of the House of War. As such it is acceptable to kill its people. Be warned, compromise will not save you. Mind you, the worst horrors are kept for other Muslims. Fundamentalist gangs killed 150,000 Algerians just to destabilize the government!

"The Islamic Resistance Movement aspires to the realization of Allah's promise, no matter how long that should take. The Prophet, Allah blesses him and grants him salvation, has said: "The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, Hindus (killing the Jews, Hindus), when the Jew and Hindu will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew or Hindu behind me, come and kill him. Only the gharkad tree, (evidently a certain kind of tree) would not do that because it is one of the trees of the Jews," (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim)."

Perhaps the last word should go to Judea Pearl, father of Daniel. A less fortunate journalist than Alan Johnston, he was tortured and beheaded. Criticizing the movie A Mighty Heart and its clumsy attempt to compare Islamic terrorists with CIA agents and Muslim murder chambers with Guantanamo Bay, Judea Pearl wrote of the film and his son, "Moral relativism died with Daniel Pearl, in Karachi, in Jan. 31, 2002. There was a time when drawing moral symmetries between two sides of every conflict was a mark of original thinking. Today, it reflects nothing but lazy conformity."

45 Muslim doctors planned US terror raids -- telegraph.co.uk

45 Muslim doctors planned US terror raids
By John Steele, Crime Correspondent

A group of 45 Muslim doctors threatened to use car bombs and rocket grenades in terrorist attacks in the United States during discussions on an extremist internet chat site.

Police found details of the discussions on a site run by one of a three-strong "cyber-terrorist" gang.
They were discovered at the home of Younis Tsouli, 23, Woolwich Crown Court in south-east London heard.
One message read: "We are 45 doctors and we are determined to undertake jihad and take the battle inside America.

"The first target which will be penetrated by nine brothers is the naval base which gives shelter to the ship Kennedy." This is thought to have been a reference to the USS John F Kennedy, which is often at May port Naval Base in Jacksonville, Florida.

The message discussed targets at the base, adding: "These are clubs for naked women which are opposite the First and Third units."
It also referred to using six Chevrolet GT vehicles and three fishing boats and blowing up petrol tanks with rocket propelled grenades.

Investigators have found no link between the Tsouli chat room and the group of doctors and medics currently in custody over attempted car bomb attacks in London and Glasgow.

However, sources said it was "definitely spooky" that the use of doctors for terrorist purposes was being discussed in jihadi terrorist circles up to three years ago.

Part of the inquiry into the London and Glasgow incidents will focus on whether al-Qa'eda has recruited doctors or other medical professionals because they are less likely to attract suspicion and can move easily around the western world.

The three "cyber terrorists" - a British national and two who had been given the right to live in Britain - are facing lengthy jail sentences after admitting using the internet to spread al-Qa'eda propaganda inciting Muslims to a violent holy war and to murder non-believers.

They had close links with al-Qa'eda in Iraq and believed they had to fight jihad against a global conspiracy by kefirs, or non-believers, to wipe out Islam.

The three are the first defendants in Britain to be convicted of inciting terrorist murder on the internet. They waged cyber-jihad on websites run from their bedrooms.

Tsouli promoted the ideology of Osama bin Laden via email and radical websites. He said in one message he was "very happy" about the July 7 bombings in London in 2005. Tsouli, along with Tariq Daour, a biochemistry student, and Waseem Mughal, a law student, were intelligent, computer-literate men who promoted violent propaganda.

They created chat forums to direct willing fighters to Iraq and discuss murderous bomb attacks around the world. Films of hostages and beheadings were found by police.

Daour, 21, of Bays water, west London, who was born in the United Arab Emirates, admitted inciting another person to commit an act of terrorism wholly or partly outside Britain. Moroccan-born Tsouli, 23, of Shepherd's Bush, west London, and British-born Mughal, 24, of Chatham, Kent, admitted the same charge on Monday.

They are due to be sentenced today. They also admitted conspiring together and with others to defraud banks, credit card companies and charge card companies. Daour had instructions for making explosives and poisons, the court was told. Police found instructions on causing an explosion with "rocket propellant'' and constructing a car bomb.

In one on-line conversation, Daour, asked what he would do with £1 million, replied: "Sponsor terrorist attacks, become the new Osama."

The three men outwardly appeared to be leading normal lives, studying and living with their parents. Tsouli had come to the UK with his family from Morocco in 2001.
Mughal had a degree in biochemistry from Leicester University and was studying for his masters.
Daour, who was granted British citizenship in May 2005, had applied to start a law degree.

All kinds of Media when really talking about Muslims avoid Muslim word and give impression talking about Hindus

See No Muslims: The NY Times Ignores the Obvious
By Joel Mowbray
July 6, 2007
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/JoelMowbray/2007/07/06/see_no_muslims_the_ny_times_ignores_the_obvious

In what must have come as a shock to its readers, the New York Times reported that the July 7, 2005 terrorist attacks in London brought "home to Britain fears of homegrown terrorist attacks among its disenfranchised South Asian population."

Imagine the surprise of many to learn that Britain is now under attack from "disenfranchised South Asian" people, not those who murder in the name of their Islamic faith.
Cruelly ironic is that in the course of attempting to avoid offending Muslims, the Times managed to defame two larger groups of people-all in a single sentence.

And that's setting aside the fact that the deadliest 7/7 bomber was not even "South Asian." Germaine Maurice Lindsay, who changed his name to Abdullah Shaheed Jamal after converting to Islam at age 15, moved to the UK from Jamaica.

A plain reading of the silly Times sentence would suggest that the British discussions of terrorism for the past two years have revolved, in large part, around fears of Indian Hindus, the single largest South Asian demographic in the United Kingdom. (According to the last UK census, immigrants who trace their ancestry to India, over 80% of whom are Hindu, are the only population of South Asian descendants topping one million in the country.)

Presumably, the Times was seeking a gentle way of pointing the finger at ethnic Pakistani Muslims, or perhaps even Muslims hailing from Bangladesh. But the self-proclaimed "paper of record" couldn't bring itself to write anything more specific than "South Asian population."

Perhaps the Times assumed that its sophisticated readers would read between the lines, just sort of figuring out that reporters Alan Cowell and Raymond Bonner were really talking about Muslims, but couldn't write as much out of politeness.

In a 1,600 word story about homegrown terrorism inside the UK, it took roughly 1,400 words before Cowell and Bonner mentioned "Muslims." "Islam" is nowhere to be found.
But the Times's absurd rhetorical acrobatics insulted not only the broad "South Asian" population, but also Britain itself.

Notice the clever phrasing about the object of Brits' fears: the "disenfranchised South Asian population." Disenfranchised is a victims' tag that mostly sullies the aggressors who have committed the disenfranchising, in this case implying that Britain has "deprived" this population group "of the rights of citizenship."Brits have done no such thing.

Remember that Muslims, or, "South Asians," have long been welcomed into British society, from employment through politics. 7/7 bomber Mohammad Sidique Khan, for example, used to work for Britain's Department of Trade and Industry.

To the extent that Muslims live and function outside of British society, it is largely by choice. British imams, for example, have told their followers not to contribute to the "infidel" economy and instead suck off its government by collecting welfare checks. And no one who's seen the photos needs reminding of the outrageous British Muslim protests calling for the blood of Islam's critics.

Perhaps the Times feels no remorse insulting large groups that the paper doesn't consider to be minorities. And perhaps the Times finds no shame in ignoring the religion of people hell-bent on murdering in the name of that religion.
But is the Times even slightly concerned when the paper's sensibilities trump the facts?

Letter to the editor in Brisbane Times Australia
We are ashamed that Australia's government has cowed down to the prime minister of India's plea to release a terrorist. Do you think British govt. will ever release the terrorists just because Indian prime minister is losing his sleep over these rascals? NEVER.

Man Mohan Singh has never been elected so far and he is a dummy prime minister with an evil design of Vatican whereby the real power is inherent in Sonia Maino Gandhi who is working as sales agent of Vatican corp.

Man Mohan Singh is a shameless man who is misusing his power and threatening the responsible government of Australia to release a terrorist. WHY? This is all done to appease the Muslims to guarantee their votes for the coming national elections.

We appeal to Australian Prime Minister to carry on the investigation and punish all terrorists irrespective of their nationality, profession or religion. A terrorist is a terrorist who must be punished to avoid destroy lives of millions of peaceful people.

It is a pity that Man Mohan Singh sent today a minister of his govt. to Bangalore to meet and console the family of the terrorist while pressuring constantly on Australian government threatening them of trade relations. This is absolute nonsense. Australia has nothing to lose with trade to India as that is not controlled by this dummy prime minister and an inefficient government in India.
The economic growth bubble constantly pushed by prime minister is a big hoax and India continues to be in misery and will continue to have no growth when we have people who do not treat all Indians as equal and divide the 1 billion people with castes, religions and other divisive factors like various kinds of reservations.
Shame on Man Mohan Singh and Indian authority to trying to release a terrorist unlawfully.

MOSLEM RULE IS BACK IN INDIA

Pray for peace in Pakistan but not for Kashmir.

Former CM of J & K Farooq Abdullah, father in law of Congress MP Sachin Pilot along with other former CM Mufti Mohammed Saeed and Congress CM of Ghulam Nabi Azad prayed Prez to forgive Afzal. Now Farooq prays for the peace in Pakistan, though non-locals fleeing from Kashmir Valley. What are they doing for that?

Farooq Abdullah cautioned that the situation in Pakistan would not only affect Iran and other countries but India too. "India's peace and prosperity depends on situation in Pakistan; let us pray for peace in Pakistan."

In the past Sonia Gandhi instructed Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi for filing cases against the bloggers, writers and website owners who down the prestige of Nehru Gandhi dynasty.

On her instruction i the background of 7/11 serial blasts, on July 13, 2006 Government of India's Department of Telecom blocked such websites, which published matter against Sonia Gandhi. It is shame that not just Hezbollah's but even the Lashkar's own website is not blocked. They maintain site under name of parent organization Jamat ud Dawa. Instead of 7/11 Mumbai blasts the night of the arrest of the Indian Muslim doctors abroad was sleepless for PM Mamohan Singh.

Heirs of Kashmiri Pandit Nehru and.....
Who defamed Nehru Gandhi dynasty? Are 10 Janpath itself not defaming its dynasty? Pt Nehru was a Kashmiri Pandit. Are resident members of 10 Janpath not heirs of Kashmiri Pandit Nehru? Kashmiri Pandits sons and daughters of Kashmiri Pandit Nehru are in the streets of Delhi around 10 Janpath where Gandhis are consuming luxurious life.
http://newsanalysisindia.com/131032007.htm

They say that they belong to Gandhi dynasty. World knows Gandhi means Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was against the forceful conversion but present Gandhis allow this. These are the acts by which Nehru Gandhi dynasty is being defamed.

Militants tell migrant laborers to quit Kashmir
Militants in Kashmir has told thousands of migrant labourers to leave the troubled region within a week after two non-Kashmiri labourers were accused of raping and killing a teenage girl. They are mum on other incidents such as an incident of July 15 when Hindu mother and daughters raped by Muslim thugs.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1871325/posts

Criminal and rapist have no religion or caste. Every criminal and rapist should be jailed. There should not be differentiation of religion, caste or status.

This is going on under a conspiracy. They publicize the same type of allegation on the army deputed in the Kashmir. Along with militants even former CM of Kashmir PDP leader Mufti Mohammed Saeed and others demand the removal of the army from the Kashmir and for getting their votes Indian government are compromising with them. It is unfortunate.

Hizbul Mujahideen, a militant group fighting for Kashmir's merger with Pakistan, has warned "Quit Kashmir within a week."
Another militant group, Jaish-e-Mohammad, echoed the demand.

"We endorsed and support the statement of Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani regarding outsiders and ask them to leave Kashmir within a week for their own safety," Hizbul spokesman Junid-ul-Islam said here on Friday. Mr. Geelani had asked the non-Kashmiri labourers to leave the valley after a girl was raped and murdered in Kupwara district.

"At least eight buses and over two dozen taxis carrying migrant labourers left from Srinagar," Mohammad Usman, a public transport operator, said.

Kashmir's chief minister condemned the separatists' decrees.
"Those who raise such slogans should also consider its fallout, as tens of thousands of Kashmiris were working and pursuing studies in other parts of the country where they could face a similar reaction," Ghulam Nabi Azad, Kashmir's chief minister said. Honorary CM did not say any thing what his government would do for restricting this panic situation

"They attacked laborers in the past, I am scared and I am leaving now," a laborer from Bihar, said before boarding a bus in Srinagar.

A rough estimate says the Rs 150-a-day wage - it's double this amount for skilled workers - has drawn around two lakh workers to the Valley, most of them from Bengal and Bihar. There are more in Jammu and Ladakh.

THE RELIGION AND POLITICS IN PUNJAB

A lethal cocktail of religion and politics by Sanjeev Nayyar
Violence is just under the surface in Punjab where a divisive British legacy
continues to thrive. The British supported the Tat Khalsa movement by
insisting that only Khalsa Sikhs (those who sported the 5ks) could join the
Army.

Article appeared in Hindustan Times, Mumbai, July 27, 2007

With the controversy over Dera Sacha Sauda leaders's apparent imitation of
the 10th Sikh Guru having died down it might be useful to know why a
prosperous state like Punjab continues to erupt like this. This article
recaps history of Punjab from the 1860's to date, and includes a series of
key events that have brought about the current situation.

Guru Gobind Singh started the Khalsa in 1699. According to tradition, its
followers had to sport the five Ks i.e. Kesh-long hair, Kangha-comb,
Kirpan-sword, Kara-steel bracelet, Kachcha-knickers. Long hair and turbans
were supposed to protect faces and heads from sword cuts and lathi blows.
The Kada was a reminder that Sikh spirit was strong and unbending. The Kacha
was more suitable for fighting the Mughals in than the Dhotis and loose
trousers of Muslims. The maximum numbers of Khalsa followers were Jats.
Though others considered themselves Sikhs, they held back since they were
not followers of the Khalsa.

Having experienced the strength of Sikh opposition during the Anglo-Sikh
wars and grateful for the assistance received from Sikh princes during the
Mutiny of 1857, the British realized that Sikhs could be an effective buffer
between Afghanistan and India.

Therefore, British reduced the number of Bengali soldiers (involved in 1857
Mutiny) to be replaced by loyal Sikhs & Punjabi Muslims. As Veena Talwar
wrote: "To prevent the sort of mutiny they experienced from sepoys in 1857,
the British organized religiously segregated regimental units from the
alleged martial races, Sikhs, Pathans, Rajputs etc. This severely
restricted Hindus of other castes particularly Khatris (Punjabi form of
Kshatriya), who had served in Maharaja Ranjit Singh's forces. Khatris (all
Sikh Gurus were Khatris) were arbitrarily lumped together by the British as
trading castes. Many families got around this artificially imposed caste
barrier by raising one or more son as Sikhs, chiefly by having them adopt
the name Singh and grow hair/beard to match". (Dowry Murder, the Imperial
origins of a Cultural Crime).

Thus, the enlistment of Sikhs increased steeply. Joining the army was
remunerative. Soldiers were well paid, given agricultural land and pension.

Around this time there was a fall in Sikh morale, stemmed by the Singh Sabha
movement. Founded in 1873 it soon split into two. One, were Sanatani Sikhs
who regarded the Panth as a special form of Hindu tradition. Two, were Tat
(true) Khalsa, who believed that Sikhism was a different religion.

The British supported the Tat Khalsa movement by insisting only Khalsa Sikhs
(those who sported the 5 Ks) could join the Army. A move to say Sikhs were
not Hindus received an impetus in 1898 with Khan Singh Nabha's book 'Ham
Hindu Nahin', the passing of the Anand Marriage Act in 1909 as the only
approved order for Sikh marriage and the insistence on the five Ks to
distinguish Sikhs from Hindus.

It did not matter to the Tat Khalsa that the real name of Golden Temple is
Hari Mandir and, "Of the 15,028 names of Gods that appear in the Adi Granth,
Hari occurs over 8,000 times, Ram 2,533 times followed by Prabhu, Gopal,
Govind and other Hindu names for the divine. The popular Sikh coinage Wah
Guru appears only 16 times". (Khushwant Singh).

After several decades, the Tat Khalsa emerged victorious. According to W. H.
Mcleod, it ensured that "in 1905 idols were removed from the Harimandir".
(Historical Dictionary of Sikhism). Modern day Sikhism is a creation of this
movement.

By about 1920, it was overtaken by the Akali Dal, a new political party that
gave expression to the revived sense of Sikh identity. The Akalis entered
into a dispute with the British for the control of Sikh Gurudwaras. Passing
of the Sikh Gurudwaras Act in 1925 signalled their complete victory. The
Act's definition of a Sikh leant strongly towards the exclusivists Khalsa
view.

To retain effective control over Punjab, the British drove a wedge between
Jat and Khatris. They passed the Punjab Land Alienation Act of 1900, which
created a favored, dominant, agriculturalist class and a non-agriculturists
class. The former included Hindu & Sikh Jats, Muslim tribes and the latter
Hindu Brahmins, Khatris and Banias. The Act made tribe and caste the basis
of land ownership. British sought to anchor itself in Punjab by playing the
distinctions between Hindu and Muslim while nurturing Muslim and Sikh Jats
as loyal subjects.

In this manner, the British supported the Jat Sikhs who were the prime
movers behind the Tat Khalsa movement.

The consequences were many. One, the birth of Akali Dal and its control over
Gurudwaras heralded the tradition of mixing religion and politics. Control
of the Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee is key to political power in
Punjab. Two, it made Jats a powerful community. Three, it started a
tradition of Khatris/Aroras making the first son a Sikh. Children of the
Sikh son became Sikh and so on. Today, future generations of the same family
having similar surnames, say Kohli, are known to the outside world as
followers of two religions, Sikhism and Hinduism. Four, it created a divide
between Jat and Khatri Sikhs such that the latter are called 'Bhapa', a term
dismissively used by Jats to describe Khatris and Aroras. Five, "since Jat
Sikhs consider themselves superior to others, non Jat Sikhs in the Indian
Army never reveal their surnames for the fear of being ridiculed in the Sikh
community". Instead they suffix their first names with 'Singh'.

Notwithstanding the fact that an Akali leader (1940-1960 period), Master
Tara Singh was a co founder of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad in 1964, Punjab was
quite successfully divided between Sikh and Hindu. During the agitation for
Punjab, the divide widened. Those areas (inhabited mostly by Punjabi Hindus)
which had a Hindi-speaking majority, were included in the state of Haryana.

Religion and politics got irrevocably intertwined in Punjab. Adept at using
religion, the Akalis ensured the Congress was at the receiving end in the
1980s. Indira Gandhi believed, if you-can't-beat-them-join-them. So the
Congress propped up Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale to counter the Akalis,
creating a monster in the process. What followed was killing of innocent
Hindus and Sikhs.

Just like the Congress party's propping up of Bhindrawale eventually
resulted in Operation Blue Star and Indira Gandhi's death, so also
Pakistan's support for terrorism in India and Afghanistan resulted in the
attack on Lal Masjid.

Today, the Jat Sikhs are a very powerful community. Such is their clout that
the UPA government is yet to implement an August 2004 Supreme Court ruling,
which orders the construction of the Punjab portion of the Sutlej Yamuna
Canal.

Whenever the supremacy of the Jat Sikhs is threatened, there could be
violence. After the latest apex court order, Amarinder Singh said terrorism
would return to Punjab if the order was implemented.

Mixing religion with politics was the British strategy. Has anything
changed!

No Indian Muslim in al Qaeda: Narayanan
Sunday, 29 July , 2007, 11:34

New Delhi: No Indian Muslim is involved in al Qaeda and the terrorist outfit will not succeed in its designs as Muslims in India are better integrated with the rest of the country than those living in Britain, National Security Adviser M K Narayanan has said.

"Al Qaeda is looking for more and more recruits across the globe. They would like to punch a hole as far as the Indian Muslim community is concerned," Narayanan told CNN-IBN news channel in an interview telecast on Sunday while alluding to the alleged involvement of Kafeel Ahmed, an Indian doctor, in the foiled UK terror plot last month.

"They see this as a setback or failure as far as the Indian Muslim community is concerned. And we are concerned. We are all the time on the lookout for al Qaeda movements," he said.

"I think this is being overblown tremendously. Kafeel Ahmed is a young man who was inveigled. It's obvious that the London and Glasgow bombings were botched attempts. Somebody has been instigated on a short term (basis)," he said while trying to dispel the impression that the Indian Muslim community is getting roped in global jihad by al Qaeda.

He also cautioned against using the term 'Indian Muslims' and stressed that the "Indian Muslim is far better integrated than the immigrant Muslim in the UK or elsewhere.

"You can always find a few bad men rather than talking about them as Indian Muslims."

When asked what his worst fear was, Narayanan said it was the possibility of a collapse in communal harmony.

"My worst fear is that our USP, our multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious society, an inclusive society, may get disturbed if more and more incidents of this kind take place and if people talk of the Indian Muslim being behind it," he said.

"It may disturb what I think is a very comfortable relationship the minorities in India have with the rest of the country," he stressed.

Introduction:
When it comes to Hindu festivals, Nepal rules. they celebrate 19 a year on their official calendar, three of them exclusively for women. India, by contrast, sets aside just two Hindu days a year on its national calendar, Navaratri and Diwali. But whatever official calendars say, Hindus miss no opportunity to set mundane matters aside and join with friends, neighbors and strangers alike in invocation of the One Supreme God and the many Gods, in honor of the Guru or in celebration of the passing of the seasons. These are times when all Three Worlds of men, of devas and of Gods come close and commune with each other. While anthropologists generally assign mere social significance in our cycles of festivals, the devout Hindu knows these are times of profound mystical connection to the inner worlds, times when God and the Gods touch our world, revitalize our very souls, lighten our karmas and bless our families. In this special section we present the nine most popular Hindu festivals.

The following nine festivals are India-wide or rather, worldwide, wherever Hindus live. There are also many regional festivals, some of which are locally celebrated on an even grander scale than some of these nine.

Maha Sivaratri

On "Siva's Great Night," Maha Sivaratri, the fourteenth day of the dark half of Kumbha, or Aquarius (Phalguna February/March), devotees fast all day in preparation to worship Lord Siva from evening until early dawn bathing the sacred Siva Linga with water, milk, honey and saffron water, then offering bilva leaves while chanting Sri Rudram, the pre-eminent Vedic hymn to Siva, or reciting His 1,008 names are the highpoints of the all-night vigil. Only when the last puja is finished in early morning do devotees break their fast by eating the sacred prasadam offered earlier to the Lord. The fo llowing day is one of feasting and gaiety, especially at grand fairs held in many parts of India. On Siva's night we contemplate Siva as the Unmanifest Reality. We dive deep in yogic meditation on His endless/beginningless Radiance.

Holi

Bonfires and the splashing of friends and strangers alike with brightly colored waters, powders and paints mark this most high-spirited of Hindu festivals. It is celebrated on the full moon day of Kumbha, or Aquarius (Phalguna February/March), and in many places for the several days preceding. Giant bonfires are built by neighborhood boys, where effigies of various demons are consumed. Friends are visited and presents of sweets exchanged. This is essentially a celebration of spring, at which different events are commemorated. This is the day the infant Krishna killed the demoness Putana; the day that Lord Vishnu's devotee Pralada, son of the demon Hiranyakasipu, survived a fire intended to kill him, and the day that Siv a burnt Kama, the God of Love, to ashes. Holi is very popular among devotees of Krishna at Mathura, Krishna's birthplace. Also known as Hutasani, "fire consuming," Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil, the beginning of the new agricultural season and the renewal of relationships.

Ram Navami

Lord Rama, the seventh incarnation of Vishnu, was born on navami, the ninth lunar day [see last paragraph, page 37, for an explanation of the lunar day] of the bright half of Meena, or Pisces (Chaitra the lunar month of March/April). Devotees observe this day with non-stop recitation of the Ramayana, the story of Rama's life. In the evening, crowds attend Ramalila, dramatic performances recounting Rama's deeds. Every home will resound with devotional singing. This festival is especially popular in Uttar Pradesh, where Rama's ancient kingdom of Ayodhya was situated. Sometimes Ramalila and other devotional observances are done during the nine days before or after navami. People will keep fasts or eat only fruit or a special prasadam prepared for the day. If celebrated for nine days, it is common to remain awake the whole ninth night, engaged in devotional practices. Devotees also contribute generously to temples and other charitable organizations on Ram Navami. Lord Rama is honored not only as an incarnation of God, but also as an ideal man who exemplified the virtues of reverence, obedience and duty.

Guru Purnima

In ashrams around the world, the spiritual preceptor is honored on this full moon day of July with garlands, gifts and donations to show love and gratitude for his wisdom through the year. Devotees renew their commitment to following his teachings and guidance for the coming year. The traditional wor ship is pada puja, ceremonial bathing of the guru's feet (or, in his absence, his sandals) with water, milk, honey, sandalwood paste and offering gifts of precious items including 108 gold coins. This day is also known as Vyasa Puja, in honor of Sage Vyasa, codifier of the Vedas and author of the Mahabharata and Puranas. He is honored in temples with offerings of limes and rice, the latter being taken home by devotees and mixed with their own store of rice. This is also a day for reading religious books while remembering the auspicious form of the satguru through

Raksha Bandhan

On the full moon of Karkata, or Cancer (Sravana July/August), sisters tie a rakhi around the wrist of their brothers, who in return give a present of clothing, cash or jewelry and become obligated for the safety of the sister. The rakhi can also be given to anyone chosen as an "adopted brother," even outside the Hindu community. It signifies that she is praying for his welfare an d that he is determined to give protection to her. Originally the rakhi was a handspun cotton thread dyed yellow with turmeric, but now many colors and materials are used. Three knots are made in the thread to signify protection in thought, word and deed. This day is also celebrated as Narali Purnima, "coconut full moon," when coconuts are offered to Varuna, God of the Sea, by throwing them into the ocean. It is also called Avani Avittam, the ceremony of changing of the sacred thread among the brahmins. This tradition dates back to Vedic times when the year's studies were commenced on this day.

Krishna Janmashtami

Lord Krishna, eighth incarnation of Vishnu, was born on the eighth lunar day (ashtami) of the dark half of Karkata, or Cancer (Sravana July/August). Devotees fast the preceding day until midnight, the time that Krishna was born to Vasudeva and Devika in the Mathura kingdom's prison 5,000 years ago. At midnight, amist grand ceremony the temple priest places the image of the newborn Krishna in a swinging crib. Among the traditional observances, pots of sweets, curd and butter are hung near homes, on trees and street poles in recollection of Krishna's love for these things. Teenage boys dressed as cowherds form human pyramids to reach and break the pots. The following day is again one of festivity, including puja, storytelling and the Ras Leela, a folk theater depicting major events of Krishna's life. "Dark as a rain cloud," reads one account of His birth, "He made the prison glow with the splendor of His crown, His jewelry and His yellow silk robes. He was the Lord God incarnate."

Ganesha Chaturthi

The fourth lunar day of the bright half of Simha, or Leo (Bhadra August/September), is celebrated around the world as the birthday of Ganesha, the elephant-headed God of Wisdom and Lord of Obstacles. As with other festivals, the homes and temples are elaborately decorated for the day. The special ac tivity is the making of clay images of Ganesha, reverently formed and decorated. Some are huge works of art created by craftsmen, others are tiny icons painted and decorated by children. At the end of the day, or seven or ten days later, these images are ceremoniously immersed in the ocean or a nearby stream or lake, signifying the creation of Ganesha from the Earth and His return and dissolution in the ocean of universal consciousness. So intense has been His presence at this time that even grown men weep at His auspicious departure. His worship on this day removes obstacles and ensures smooth progress in all ventures through the year. As Ganesha is common to all Hindu sects, this festival is serving both inside and outside of India as a day to celebrate Hindu solidarity and unity.

Navaratri

The festival of "Nine Nights," Navaratri, honoring the Goddess, begins on the first lunar day of the bright half of Kanya, or Virgo (Asvina September/October). Three days are devoted each to Durga (Goddess of valor), Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth) and Saraswati (Goddess of knowledge). In eastern India the festival is known as Durga Puja. There, images of the Goddess are created, worshiped for ten days, then immersed in the sea. In southern India, houses are decorated with displays of dolls, toys and images of the Gods. In western India, the traditional garbha dance is performed nightly. On the fifth day (Lalita Panchami), all books of a household are gathered, sacred lamps lit reverently by their side and the blessings of Saraswati invoked. Artisans give their tools a "day of rest," worship and seek blessings for them. Day ten, variously known as Vijaya Dasami, Dasara and Dussehra, marks the commencement of learning. In many localities huge effig ies of Ravana are burnt to celebrate Rama's conquest of the demon.

Deepavali (Diwali)

The festival of lights, Deepavali (Diwali in Hindi), takes place on the fourteenth lunar day of the dark half of Tula, or Libra (Karttika October/November), with related festivities on adjacent days. It is the most widely celebrated Hindu festival in the world, and possibly related to the European Celtic festival of Samhain, observed at the same time of the year with huge bonfires set on hilltops. This is the day that Rama returned to Ayodhya after spending 14 years in exile, though many other reasons for the day are cited. It is a celebration of renewal as the New Year commences in the Vikram calendar. Everyone takes a special bath in the early morning and puts on new clothes. Houses are cleaned, painted and decorated. Goddess Lakshmi is invoked for prosperity, and Her presence is felt in every home. Businesses close out their books for the past year and open new ones , even conducting a mock first business deal of the year. In the evening, every house, store, temple and wall is decorated with thousands of small lamps, while fireworks are set off overhead and firecrackers by the hundreds of thousands below. Family bonds are renewed, especially between brothers and sisters, and forgiveness is requested from friends for any misunderstandings during the previous year. Of all festivals, Deepavali holds a special place, and is the premier international one, holding official holiday status in nine countries India, Nepal, Fiji, Mauritius, Guyana, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Trinidad and Singapore, with attempts being made to add more countries where Hindus live.

Setting Festival Dates

Most festivals are held on astrologically auspicious times for a particular deity in the same zodiac sign of the Sun each year. Ram Navami, for example, takes place in the sign of Meena or Pisces, which corresponds to the north Indian month of Chaitr a or the Tamil month of Panguni. Each festival day is designated on a particular lunar day, or tithi, during a particular sign. There are 30 tithis from new moon to new moon. The month's "bright half" (shukla paksha) starts from the new moon (amavasya) to the full moon (purnima) and the "dark half" (krishna paksha) from the full moon to the new moon. Because the cycle of the Moon around the Earth (about 29.5 days) and the Sun through one zodiac sign (about 30.4 days) do not match, the month may begin on varying tithis. Tithis also vary in length from 20 to 26 hours, because of the Moon's orbit in relation to the sun. When a tithi occurs twice in one month, the second is chosen for the festival. Because a tithi is not the same as a 24-hour day and the calculations depend on location, one must consult a Hindu calendar (panchanga) computed for a particular place to determine a festival date. One cannot simply go by the dates for India. Some festivals are calculated using the na kshatra system. There are many regional variations in calendars and hence even dissent on festival calculations.

BIRTHDAY PARTY OF MINISTER WITH URVASHIS

BIRTDAY PARTY OF MINISTER

Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh should be complimented for his instant seeking resignation of his Minister for Transport & Tourism GS Bali as soon as a TV channel (Star News) telecast a video-film of minister’s birthday-party taken by a hidden camera where the minister was seen enjoying his birthday-party in presence of call-girls. Channel also showed scenes of another expensive party to celebrate his birthday with general people and Chief Minister.

Things will go on worsening till political leaders adopt austerity in personal lives. It has become an unholy fashion to spend lavishly on birthdays of politicians by organising parties, giving newspaper-advertisements and putting banners, posters and hoardings to offer ‘congratulations’ by ‘well-wishers’. Race in exhibiting closeness with the politician by spending on his/her birthday is in fact to gain favours from the birthday-celebrity. There must be a complete ban on celebrating birthdays of living persons seated on political or ruling posts. Any such celebration by others may be taken as bribe to gain favour from the birthday-celebrity.

IS MOUSE DROPPINGS/URINE GETTING ONTO YOUR CANNED DRINKS

A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui, Hawaii.

When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse/rat droppings in some areas.
A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming down with a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, and began to vomit.

He went to bed and never really got up again. Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to the emergency at Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure. He died shortly before midnight .
No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat/mouse dropping s at any time. They said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings.

Once dried, these droppings are like dust and can easily be breathed in or ingested if a person does not wear protective gear or fails to wash face and hands thoroughly .

An autopsy was performed on the clerk to verify the doctor's suspicions.

This is why it is extremely important to ALWAYS carefully rinse off the tops of canned sodas or foods, and to wipe off pasta packaging, cereal boxes, and so on.
Almost everything you buy in a supermarket was stored in a warehouse at one time or another, and stores themselves often have rodents.

Most of us remember to wash vegetables and fruits but never think of boxes and cans.
The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does!

Whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap or, if that is not available, drink with a straw.
The investigation of soda cans by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta discovered that the tops of soda cans can be encrusted with dried rat's urine, which is so toxic it can be lethal. Canned drinks and other foodstuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodents, and then they get transported to retail outlets without being properly cleaned.
