take flying car to work - no joke - almost on the market

Flying saucer' nears US take-off
By David Willis
BBC News, Davis, California

The M 200G "flying saucer" in action in California
Getting to work could take on a whole new dimension

Flying car showroom
It has been called the vehicle of the future and the ultimate way to beat the rush hour commute.

It is the M 200G, otherwise known as a "flying saucer", which is being built by a company in Davis, California called Moller International.

It says the futuristic contraption will go on sale in a few months and hopes to expand production to 250 a year.

Company representatives say it is easy to operate, with plenty of leg room and space for a passenger.

"Highway in the sky"

Capable of vertical take-off and landing, the craft hovers like a helicopter up to 10ft off the ground. Any higher and the driver would need a pilot's licence.

Cars are finished as a means of getting around. It's only a matter of time
Dr Paul Moller

It is the brainchild of Dr Paul Moller, an aeronautics engineer who envisions a "highway in the sky" which he believes could cut conventional commuter traffic in half.

"We have this wonderful natural resource above us," Dr Moller told the BBC.

"Look at the sky above us - how many aircraft do you see? It's a great space that is not being utilised. That is what we plan to use. Cars are finished as a means of getting around. It's only a matter of time."

The flying saucer is powered by eight engines which can run on petrol, diesel or even ethanol.

Dr Moller and his team have already conducted more than 200 test flights and say the flying saucer could prove useful to rescue teams as well as landowners.

Faster versions

It will sell for about $90,000 (£44,700) and the only question now surrounds licensing arrangements.

Moller International has yet to establish which US agency - the Federal Aviation Administration or the Department of Transport - will authorise its use.

It sees the flying saucer as a precursor to the M400 - otherwise known as the "Skycar" - which looks a bit like the Batmobile, also boasts vertical take-off and landing, and can be driven on the road as well as flown through the sky.

By the time the Skycar goes into production - probably in about six years time - it will be capable of climbing 6,000ft a minute and travelling at up to 400 miles an hour.

If Dr Moller and his magnificent men get their way, the days of dropping in to the shops or the office may not be far away.

mockery of justice and undue partisanism by Minority Commission

A CASE FOR MINORITY COMMISSION?

It refers to merciless beating by public followed by dragging a chain-snatcher by a policeman with his motor-bicycle in Bhagalpur (Bihar), that too in full view of TV cameras. The incident is indeed horrible, and responsible police-persons did deserve exemplary punishment. It was also justified that National Human Rights Commission promptly took cognisance of the incident. But it was not proper that National Minority Commission intervened in the episode to unnecessarily to give the uneasy incident a communal colour only because the beaten-up chain-snatcher belonged to minority-group. Such an incident could be there with any thief irrespective of his religion. Rather such uncalled interference by National Minority Commission can result in outburst of religious hatred amongst different communities.

THE FAITH HEALER

Taking Faith Healing Too Far

A faith healer asked Moshe how his family was getting along. "They're all fine," Moshe said, "Except my uncle. He's very sick."

"Your uncle is not sick," the faith healer said. "He THINKS he's sick."

Two weeks later, the faith healer ran into Moshe on the street. "How is your uncle getting along?" he asked.

Moshe shrugged, "He THINKS he's dead."

RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

:Shree Hari:

29th August, 2007, Wednesday
Sravana Krishna Pratipada, Vikram Samvat 2064, Budhvar

Whatever form of relationship one has with God, whether it be based on passion, fear, hatred, anger, friendship etc; any form of relationship can lead to Salvation. The main point is to have a relationship with God and it will definitely be beneficial.

Naradaji has said the following about exclusivity among God's devotees -

"Nasti teshu jaatividhyaroopkuldhankriyadi bhed." (Narada Bhakti Sutra 72)

"In those devotees there is no distinction due to race, knowledge, appearance, heritage, wealth and type of work." (Narada Bhakti Sutra 72)

The point is that those devotees that are entirely surrendered to God; those devotees that have developed oneness with Him; that have become completely engrossed in God; that have exclusively accepted their true and essential Self; those that have rather than taking the gross, subtle and action oriented body in this worldly life and have gone beyond the many differences, such as race, knowledge, etc, for them many of the principles do not apply.

This is because such a devotee, is only a part of the imperishable and eternal God. "Yatstdiyaah" (Narada Bhakti Sutra 72); He is not off the world. Being a part of God, they are considered to be part of God's family.

HUJI SIMI NAXAL NEXUS; HYDERABAD BLAST AND AGRA VIOLENCE

HuJI SIMI Naxal Nexus: Hyderabad blast and Agra Violence

Please connect the following article with Hyderabad blast of four
days before and Today's Agra Taj Mahal violence and tried to find
out the culprit vote greedy power grabbers fake secular leaders,
journalists, Human Right groups who encourages SIMI, Naxalites,
infiltration from Bangladesh and adopted religious head counting,
religion based quota policy in Andhra and other states, Sachchar
Committee's recomondations and to appease minority:
Investigation claimed HuJI SIMI did blasts in Sankatmochan temple
Varanasi and HYD Mecca Mosque via Samjhauta after Gujarat. HuJI SIMI
has a link with Bangladesh via Kolkata and Raipur. Who shelter them
in the name of Human right and secularism? Tis lik is agai in the
Hyderabad blast of before four days and today's violence in Agra.
May 20, 2007: http://newsanalysisindia.com/120052007.htm
Blasts in religious places aimed riot in the line of Gujarat
HuJI and banned SIMI are the organizations of Militants for blasting
Hindu Muslim religious places to disturb the peace by creating riots
as they did in Gujarat to burn the compartments of Sabarmati Express
at Godhra.
From Gujarat people learnt the lesson, so the devil motive of blasts
could be defused by the pople of India. But can media and leaders
not try to evoke the sentiments of the people in the name of Human
right and secularism? Who can dare to arrest these so called secular
leaders and media persons?
Kolkatta to Raipur via Bangladesh has a link with HuJI SIMI
Kolkatta to Raipur via Bangladesh has a link with HuJI SIMI
Naxalites, Human Right Activists such as PUCL and foreign funded
media.
Raipur police of Chhattisgarh has arrested a leader of PUCL Dr.
Vinayak Sen for his connection with Naxalites. He is also involved
with Piyush Guha wearing mask of a Kolkata based business man of
tendu leaves. Piyush Guha is arrested in Raipur with three letters
related to naxaites. PUCL with the family members of Piyush Guha and
so called other human right activists tried to make free Piyush Guha.

PUCl for naxalites and fake secularists for PUCL
PUCL is called by fake seculars an Organization of Human Right
Activists. So called human activists, Congress leaders and few media
persons have reached in Raipur to disturb the investigation. When
Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati was arrested then they said that
law would take its course. The same arguments are in the fake
arrests of nationalists and the leaders of Hindu organizations. But
their arguments for Dr. Sen, Piyush Ghosh and others are
differents.

Raipur Police seized materials related to naxaites
Raipur police seizded some suspected documents from the home of Dr.
Sen. The Sen couple found Congress leaders Sudha kasar, Shobha Yadav
and others as witness. Police seized two CDs related to the
encounter of Golapalli and Jharkhand besides other five CDs, CPU of
computer, Letter of prisoned Naxalites Narayan Sanyal and Madanlal
Banjare and book related to the unity between Communist Party of
India People's war and MCPI. Other important seizure includes
letters of Andhra Human Rights and naxalites group.

PUCL a link with Kolkata capital of Communists
All abve persons has link with Kolkatta and their native place is
West Bengal, ruled by lefitists aiming redish (Lal Salam) the whole
India on the line of Nepal. Manmohan with Sonia want to adopt the
way of Koirala. Some documents reltated to the preparation for a
movement against the American Imperilism are also seized. These
documents might be a clue for the following event of January 22,
2002:

Attack on Americal Centre Kolkata and ………….
HuJI-B's direct involvement had come to light in the terrorist
attack on January 22, 2002, at the American Center in Kolkata. An
early morning attack by a group HuJI cadres left five policemen dead
on the spot. Both Kolkata police and the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) of America investigated the incident,
responsibility for which was claimed by two organisations, HuJI-B
and the Asif Reza Commando Force (ARCF). In fact, the ARCF was an
adjunct of the HUJI, formed and manned largely by Bangladeshi
migrants in India and some experienced HUJI-B cadres in India who
were trained at ISI- backed training camps in Pakistan. It was
formed in the third week of December 2001 at a village, 15
kilometres from the Habibpur town, populated by illegal Bangladeshi
migrants in the Malda District of West Bengal, following a meeting
of middle-ranking HuJI-B leaders and Students Islamic Movement of
India (SIMI) activists, who chalked out plans to float an affiliate
of the outfit for local operations.

HYD blasters llink with Kolkata HuJI-B SIMI
Hyderabad Police is investigating link in the blast in the mecca
mosque. Police sources said the SIM card of the mobile phone was
purchased in Kolkata and was due to expire on Friday, and was found
attached to an unexploded bomb was bought in Kolkata.
Police believe that Bangladesh-based terror group Harkat-Ul Jihad Al
Islami (HUJI) was behind the blast and its activist Mohammed Shahed
alias Bilal, a native of Hyderabad, was its mastermind.

Shahed is believed to have triggered the blast from Bangladesh as a
very sophisticated technology was used to detonate the Improvised
Explosive Device (IED) filled with a mixture of RDX and TNT.
According to police, a phone call from anywhere in the world to the
mobile attached to the IED is enough to trigger the blast.

A day after Friday's bomb blast at Mecca Masjid, investigations are
still on as to why the fourth bomb that was discovered close to the
masjid at a time when it was packed with Friday namazis did not go
off or was not triggered.

Harkat-ul-Jehad-i-Islami's (HuJI) paw marks are becoming
increasingly visible in major terror attacks in India. The group,
which is known to be working closely with ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba,
was blamed for the Sankat Mochan bombing in Varanasi.

The explosive material, RDX and TNT, are not available in India and
were imported from Bangladesh. "All that the local accomplices had
to do was to put it together, something than can be done by anyone
with minimal knowledge," the sources said.

Local involvement in HYD Blasts
Apparently, the three local accomplices visited Mecca Masjid between
9 am and 10 am on Friday, and returned one hour later and planted
the bombs.

The sources said three youth were picked up from Bhavaninagar and
Kala Patthar areas of the old city on Friday night in connection
with the blast. The sources believe that HuJI activist Mohammed
Abdul Sahed alias Bilal's brother Zaheed, who runs a mobile-phone
repair shop, could have provided the the phones.

Bilal may be a key culprit in Mecca blasts
Bilal, who took over the command HuJI on October 12, 2005, has been
on the list of most wanted terrorists after he masterminded a
suicide attack on the special task force's headquarters in Hyderabad
that left one police personnel dead. He is also wanted in the murder
conspiracy of BJP leader N Indrasena Reddy and the Secunderabad
Ganesh temple blast, besides the blasts on the Samjhauta Express.

Bilal a link with Gujarat
An associate of Rasool Khan 'Party', a Gujarat resident, Bilal has
been instrumental in sending youths for arms training to Pakistan
through Dhaka and some Gulf states, the sources said. Incidentally,
one Maqsood Ahmed alias Maqsood, 26, who was working as a manager
with a showroom in Somajiguda, was arrested on April 1, 2007, during
search operations.

Maqsood had come in contact with Bilal. While the police then, got a
clue that an attack was being planned, they could not get details.
The Mecca Masjid blast on Friday could well have been that planned
attack

It means naxalites of Chaatisgarh and Andhra get explosives from
Bangladesh energy from Kolkata a capital of Left. They hide
themselves in the name of human rights and secularism with the help
of Congress and left. These naxalites have link with HuJI and SIMI.
Before two days home Minister Shivraj Patil said that Maoist has
link with Militants. So these facts indicate that these elements are
directly or indirectly involved in the HYD Mecca Mosque blasts and
Sankatmochan temple of Varanasi blasts besides the others.

Journalist Prabhash Joshi and others in the support of PUCL
In the mean while, defamed trders of human rights and fake
secularism have reached in Raipur for the help of Dr. Vinayak Sen
and others. They have completed a great journey for the noble cause
getting freedom for naxalites. Among those communism thinkers are
former IAS officer Dr. Harsh Mandir, Film maker Tapan Basu,
Journalist Prabhash Joshi (former editor jansatta Hindi daily,
Presently residence editor in Indian Express group) and Brahmdev
Sharma. They will save those naxalites. But who save the people
from the terrorism and naxal means Maoism? "Jab sanya bhaye kotwal
toa kaheka dar": Left supported UPA government Bigest B is the Big
brothers of them in India.

SHOULD WE ASK GOD FOR WAHTEVER WE NEED IN LIFE

From Madan_Kaura@yahoo.com

shree Hari

Ram Ram

Priya sadhak, prasana ke liye dhanyavad, lot of good responses have already been posted. Humbly, submit few more comments:

According to Swamiji Maharaj's interpretation of Gitaji's verse (7-16) in Sadhaka Sajeevani, among the 4-types of devotees of God one of them is “Artharthi”. who prays to God for worldly things. God is pleased, thinking, My dear devotee is praying to Me for his needs, at least he is solely depending on Me only and not on someone else”. How generous of God to think in this manner. Solely depending on God for our needs, believe is the only the first stage of devotion for the sadhaka, subsequent to that the relationship with God should develop into Love for God and then the desire for the things falls off on its own.

The important point is that – what is our motivation, is our intent to get the things only and it does not matter who gives the things to us, this way, the importance is on getting the things and not dependence on God. If that is the case, then there is a serious issue. This way we will miss the golden opportunity to realize the only important goal of life to unite with God since our attention is on desire for things which satisfy us for the time being only.

Are we thinking that God is less intelligent than us, we think that we know our needs better than what He knows. If truly we see God as our Father & Mother, do we need to pray to Him for our list of things, does He not know what our needs are? Even the worldly mother always knows what her child needs, when and how much? Therefore, for an aspirant with complete faith in God, there is no need to ask (Refer to Gitaji 9-22).

To this effect Goswami Tulsidasji says in Ramacharitmanas –
a). Ahi tan kar phala bishya na bhai,
Swargu svalpa anta dukhda,
nara tana pai bishya man dehi,
palate sudha te sath bish lehi(Uttar 43-1)
b). binu santosha na kama nasahi,
Kaam achhat sukh sapnehun nahin
Rama bhajan binu mitahi na kama (uttar 89-1)

Meaning –
a). Sensuous enjoyment, brothern, is not the be-all and end-all of human existence; and even the heavenly enjoyments is short lived and ends in sorrow. The fools who devote their mind to the pleasures of senses even after attaining rare human birth taking poison in exchange of nectar.
b). Without contentment desire cannot cease; and as long as desire continues you can never even dream of happiness. Desire cannot be rid of without adoring Sri Rama.

As Swamiji Maharaj would say, if we have decided to ask God for something, why to ask for the material things? Why to settle for glass beads when we can have Paras Mani? Once we have deep faith in God, then we resort to - "Jahi vidhi rakhe Ram tehi vidhi rahie". Swamiji Maharaj says ask for His LOVE only or ask Him to help us in getting rid of Kaama, Krodha and Lobha etc.

Wirth loving Pranams

DHOKHA TO THE HINDUS BY PUJA BHATT

It's very obvious that Pooja Bhatt is a hypocrite. If she was so interested
in plight of minorities, why didn't she make movie on "Kashmiri Pundits"?
Or a movie on "Persecution of Hindus in Pakistan" or "In Bangladesh"...
but no she can't do that because then she has to face a "fatwa" like we
see Taslima Nasrin facing fatwa from Islamic Fundamentalists. Pooja is
not interested in "Taslima of Bangladesh" or "Pakistan's Mukhtaran Mai".
Pooja is more interested in Muslim men than Muslim women. After all,
she is Mahesh Bhatt's daughter, and we all know what Mahesh Bhatt is!It

DR. WAYNE DYER

Wayne Dyer on Letting Go
The best-selling author talks to Beliefnet about inner flexibility, letting go, and the real secret behind 'The Secret.'
Interview by Valerie Reiss

Best-selling inspirational author Wayne Dyer recently talked to Beliefnet from his home in Maui about his latest book, "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life: Living the Wisdom of the Tao" and what he's like now that he's embraced the Tao, an ancient Chinese philosophy. He also tells us what's missing in ”The Secret," and how we can get in on the truest secret of all.

What's the most common spiritual affliction that you see?

Carl Jung said that the number one purpose of organized religion is to prevent everyone from having a direct experience of God. With spirituality the implication very often is that some people have it and some people don't. And those that have it dispense it to others. And I think it's more than an affliction. It's a huge, huge, huge error to make--each and every being on this planet is a piece of God. We all came from the same source.

It sounds like you're talking about separation.

Separation from our source, yeah. In the first nine months of your life, when you were inside your mother's womb, you were doing nothing, you know? You were just being done. And you surrendered to that completely. And you didn't worry about it, and you didn't pray that your nose would show up on time, and that your fingernails would come and they would be in the right place, and all that. You just surrendered to it. And then, when you're born, we are surrounded by people who suddenly say, well, that was good work, God, but now I'll take over from here.

When We Develop the Ego
And then, we develop this ego, which is an acronym for Edging God Out. As we edge God out, we take over ourselves, and we start believing that we're not these divine creations. We start believing that we are what we have and what we do and what we accumulate, and what our reputations are, and we start really believing strongly in all of that stuff. And in the process, we lose our connection to what we really are.

How can changing your thoughts change your life?

You Can Change How the World Looks at You
They say when you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. Einstein once said that the most important decision you'll ever have to make in your life is whether you live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe. And if you're a person who believes that you live in a hostile universe, you're going to be looking for that. You're going to be experiencing that. You'll be seeing it everywhere. You'll become a person who's always looking for occasions to be upset or to be offended or to be hurt, or depressed, or sad, or right, or whatever.

If you live in a world that you believe supports you, and is friendly and is there for you, and is bringing you all that you need at any given moment, and all the experiences that you have are perfect, if you just really believe that, then, the things that you don't like you'll just be able to ignore, and the world looks very, very different.

Since so much of your work has been about the law of attraction, I wanted to ask what you think about "The Secret."

Why I Turned Down Filming
'The Secret'
I'm thrilled that the book sales have been so great on this thing. It's really brought people to a new awareness of the power of the mind to create what you want. The reason I wasn't in that movie--I was asked to be--is that I think too much of the emphasis is on manifesting stuff. Manifesting more things. Nothing wrong with stuff and things and so on. But to me the great secret is that when you're giving, when you put your attention on what you really want and then shift to [asking] "How can I offer this to others rather than seeking it for myself?" That's the ultimate secret—the more you give, the more you receive.

I wrote a book about the secret long before "The Secret." It's called "Manifest Your Destiny," and it's really much, much more about putting your focus on serving. Like, if you say to the universe, "How may I serve," the universe responds back with, "How may I serve you?" If you say to the universe, "Give this to me," you're coming from a position of shortage or lack. If you say to the universe, "Gimme, gimme, gimme," the universe says back to you what you ask for, which is, "Gimme, gimme, gimme." And you're constantly feeling as if you're never given enough, you know?

So, is there an ideal way to ask for what we want?

Focus on Serving the Universe
I think the best way to ask for what you want is to say, "How many I serve?" I have a rule with myself. Which is that I start out every day by doing something for somebody else that they're usually not expecting, whether it's one of my family members or, oftentimes, it's people from around the world--somebody wants me to call them in the hospital, or I send a book or a gift. And the opening words out of my mouth are, "Thank you" when I awaken. I have found that the more I'm able to offer and give as much as I possibly can, that I can't even control how much flows into my life. It just comes in bigger and bigger.

DICTATORIAL BEHVIARI OF POLITICIANS IN INDIA

SUSPENDING COLLECTOR BY BIHAR CM

Our political rulers in so-termed democratic system of governance at times behave like monarchy rulers like happened in Bihar when the state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar issued marching-orders for Saharsa collector because the officer could not recognise voice of Chief Minister or his personal secretary on the phone. What happens if the collector responds and acts on a mischievous phone-call made by some person impersonating himself as Chief Minister on the phone? There are routine incidents whereby frauds are found to be using letter-heads of elected representatives posing themselves to be MPs, MLAs or municipal counsellors. However a system can be evolved whereby phone-numbers of Chief Minister and other important functionaries are circulated amongst officers so that they may not be confused about proper identification of the calling authority. But it may create more problems because of possible massive usage for calling Chief Minister etc.

ON CONVERSION

Self-Defeated: Mother Teresa Rajneesh Gandhi

Rajneesh destroyed his own teaching because he discarded truthfulness in favor of what he thought were useful lies. By late 1946, Gandhi made it clear that he would prefer to see the Congress dissolve. Now the self-defeat is hidden in the letters of Mother Teresa.

At the last Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Rajneesh became emty and their teaching their belief their efforts of whole life went in the vein. But OSHO, Gandhigiri and legacy of Mother Teresa also take breadth.

Is Mrityu bhoj not an evil in which a feast is given on the death of a person? by the family of the dead person? http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/128052007.htm

Self Defeat of Mahatma Gandhi becomes Gandhigiri

In last time of his life Mahatma imagined the misuse of 'Congress' name after his death. Gandhi's last wish was the dissolution of 'Congress'. Even last wish of hanging accused is heard but last wish of Gandhi was not fulfilled. Nehru accepted partition and did not dissolve Congress to make Congress the property of his heirs.
http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/128022007.htm

So called renounces of modern sainthood of sari and pajama gandhis and teaching of Sanjay Dutt's Gandhigiri in Lageraho Munnabhai are sweet slaps or Gere-Shilpa kiss on Gandhism. They kidnapped true original Gandhi and Congress of Pre-independence to overlook others for grabing power. They are killing Mahatma Gandhi daily in every hour and every minute. http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/130042007.htm

OSHO fill up the vaccume of Self Defeated Rajneesh

Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh (1931-1990) was born Rajneesh Chandra Mohan Jain in Kuchwara, a town in MP. Rajneesh wished to sink his think-tank. Followers turned it in OSHO. He saw in his end of life the destruction of his commune of struggling sanyasins. Rajneesh had dropped the title Bhagwan and, later, even the name Rajneesh. http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/127052007.htm

And thus both Rajneesh and Mahatma Gandhi forced to see their death of minds at the last time of their lives.

Self defeated Mother Teresa's legacy continue

Almost ten years after she died, Mother Teresa and her nuns continue to draw the world's leaders and their families to their humble home in Kolkata to ovelook the truth of Mother Teresa' letters.

Timesonline gives details of Mother Teresa' letters which emerged from a book of her letters to friends and confessors.

Shortly after beginning her work in the slums of Calcutta, she wrote, "Where is my faith? Even deep down there is nothing but emptiness and darkness. If there be a God - please forgive me."

In letters eight years later, she was still expressing "such deep longing for God", adding that she felt "repulsed, empty, no faith, no love, no zeal".
Her smile to the world from her familiar weather-beaten face was a "mask" or a "cloak", she said. "What do I labour for? If there be no God, there can be no soul. If there be no soul then, Jesus, You also are not true."

"I am told God lives in me - and yet the reality of darkness and coldness and emptiness is so great that nothing touches my soul," she wrote at one point. "I want God with all the power of my soul - and yet between us there is terrible separation." On another occasion she wrote: "I feel just that terrible pain of loss, of God not wanting me, of God not being God, of God not really existing."

The late Pope, John Paul II, was a great admirer of Mother Teresa.

The Vatican has insisted on Aug 25 that Mother Teresa's course to sainthood will not be affected by the deep crisis of faith she suffered in the last 40 years of her life.

Mother Teresa wanted the destuction of her letters

Please destroy any letters or anything I have written.
- to Picachy, April 1959
Consistent with her ongoing fight against pride, Teresa's rationale for suppressing her personal correspondence was "I want the work to remain only His." If the letters became public, she explained to Picachy, "people will think more of me - less of Jesus." But Vatican did not accept her request.

Self-Defeat

Self-Defeat occurs when accepting the truth of a philosophical position entails losing justification for believing that the position being advocated is true. Consider a view that no respectable philosopher has ever endorsed:
Any belief formed by a human lacks justification for believing it to be true.

Mahatma Gandhi & Mark Tully Vs Naveen Chwala

Please find the discussion in details of the following in my articles of Sep 11 and 12, 2006 at: http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/sep_06.htm

When "Mother" Teresa died; her longtime friend and biographer Naveen Chawla said that he once asked her bluntly, "Do you convert?" She replied, "Of course I convert. I convert you to be a better Hindu or a better Muslim or a better Protestant. Once you've found God, it's up to you to decide how to worship him"

Q to Mark Tully: Do you consider yourself an honorary Hindu as well as an honorary Indian?
Ans of Tully: "I consider myself a Christian. I follow Mahatma Gandhi in that you stay in the religion that you were born in. But being a Christian doesn't stop me from appreciating Hinduism's contribution to this civilisation."

"It is impossible for me to reconcile myself to the idea of conversion after the style that goes on in India and elsewhere today. It is an error which is perhaps the greatest impediment to the world's progress toward peace . Why should a Christian want to convert a Hindu to Christianity? Why should he not be satisfied if the Hindu is a good or godly man?" (Harijan: January 30, 1937)

Let the Hindu be a Better Hindu I came to the conclusion long ago . that all religions were true and also that all had some error in them, and whilst I hold by my own, I should hold others as dear as Hinduism. So we can only pray, if we are Hindus, not that a Christian should become a Hindu . But our innermost prayer should be a Hindu should be a better Hindu, a Muslim a better Muslim, a Christian a better Christian. (Young India: January 19, 1928)

"Welcome Them Back" - Mahatma Gandhi
If a person through fear, compulsion, starvation, or for material gain or consideration goes over to another faith, it is a misnomer to call it conversion. Most cases of conversion . have been to my mind false coin . I would therefore unhesitatingly re-admit to the Hindu fold all such repentants without much ado . If a man comes back to the original branch he deserves to be welcomed . in so far as he may deem to have erred, he has sufficiently purged himself of it when he repents his error and retraces his steps.

So move for 'Ghar vapasi (welcome back home)' is necessary instead of save Afzal Guru move started by Congress its allies and CPM. The leaders persons who adopted conversion should come back in their original religion. This is the best sevice to the humanity. Instead of doing to save terrorists naxalites, human right groups should work for 'Ghar vapasi (welcome home back)'.

Live Your Life the Best Way
At a certain point, let's stop trying to understand the meaning of life and focus on enjoying it instead..
By Alan Alda

I don't think I made a conscious decision to live forever. But, it's working out that way.

It started twenty years ago in London when I was doing interviews for a movie I had written. When you open a movie, the studio arranges for you to meet as many journalists as possible in one day. The journalists, understandably, all ask pretty much the same questions; so unless you have a knack for making up the facts of your life –and I envy people who can do that -- you hear yourself saying the same things over and over again. This numbs your brain and gives the audience a chance to be sick of the movie before they've even seen it.

But in that London hotel room, I was on my thirteenth interview when suddenly I snapped to attention. The journalist was asking me a question I hadn't heard before.

Begin your day by painting your dreams

"I'm sorry, what?"

She said it again: "How long would you like to live?"

It wasn't such an extraordinary question, but it was different from anything I'd been asked in the previous twelve interrogations, or in any other interview. I was glad not to have to hear myself recite the same boring account of my rise to world power through my fantastic creative process and I let my imagination loose a little.

"A hundred and six," I said. "I'd like to live to a hundred and six. If I can still make love."

She smiled and made a note. The next day, my wife, Arlene, opened the newspaper and read the headline:

"WATCH OUT GIRLS. ALDA WANTS TO LIVE TO 106 AND STILL MAKE LOVE."

Arlene put the paper down and looked at me.

"A hundred and six? Give me a break."

We laughed about it but, for reasons that would take until I'm a hundred and six to analyze, from that moment I assumed that the number 106 would be my life span. I was certain of it. I think of myself as rational: I ask people where they got their information before I take seriously their thought that life as we know it will end on Tuesday. But from that moment on, I had no doubt that I would last until exactly 106. And in good health, too.

Arlene doesn't like the idea that we might leave our children the job of cleaning up after us when we're gone and every once in a while she'll say, "We're getting older. I think we should clean out the closets." When she says this, I look at her as though she's nuts. First of all, whenever I do go, I'm going to be dead. Let them worry about the closets. But, far more importantly, we have a good thirty-five years before we'll be gone. (I've included her in my lunatic belief that 106 is the magic number.)

I'm not under the impression that I'll live at least that long; 106 is the exact, drop-dead number. I've been so sure of it that when I was interviewing scientists on the television series Scientific American Frontiers and was told that, eventually, people will live to 150, 200, and possibly longer, I was depressed. I felt I had shortchanged myself. I should have picked a bigger number. I was too impulsive that day in London.

This crazy thought persisted even after I nearly died on a mountaintop in Chile three years ago. When I woke up after an emergency operation, I was so glad to be alive that I was euphoric. My euphoria lasted long enough for me to write a book about it. I no longer feared death the way I had when I was younger. Instead, I wanted to make the most out of whatever time I had left. But my fixation on the number 106 lingered like a hangover from the days when I was afraid of death.

Now, though, I had a new worry. Would I live all those years without having lived them in the best possible way? Having faced the empty blackness in Chile, I understood that whenever I died, whether it was 35 years from now, or next week, the end would eventually come. Shouldn't I have some sense that my life had really counted? I wanted that feeling of satisfaction. What would give it to me?

I became obsessed with this thought, and that brought on a second book. This time, I tried to figure out if I could have that feeling of satisfaction in a lasting way. By now, I had lived through most of the things that are supposed to give our lives meaning: love, art, family, money, fame, political activism, faith, skepticism, curiosity, mindless play, even pure motion--just keeping busy. And the list goes on. I wondered if any of these things had given me a sense of meaning that was lasting. All of them have, for a time; but no single one of them has been the solid peg to hang my hope for meaning on. It keeps eluding me.

I remember nightlong youthful conversations, trying to figure out an answer to the question: what are we here for? Now I see what a tricky question it is. It assumes there's an answer. Maybe that assumption comes from the kind of problem-solving brain we have. Something seems out of place, something doesn't fit, and we think, there must be a way to put this puzzle together. Maybe there isn't. Maybe the best we can hope for is the pleasure of tackling a hard problem.

I've spent my life in the theater, so sometimes when I think about this a play comes to mind: Stephen Sondheim's "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" It's a mindless, funny romp of a musical comedy. And Sondheim knows that, even as we laugh, the part of our brain that has made us so successful on this planet is saying, "Yes, it's funny. But what does it mean?" He knows that the problem-solver in us wants a useful moment; a flash of insight—at the very least, a handy moral. But Sondheim's ahead of us. At the end of the play, as I remember, the chorus looks at us, almost with pity, and sings: "What is the moral? Must be a moral." Then, they throw us a bone: "Moral tomorrow—Comedy Tonight!"

Maybe that's us at the end of our lives. Maybe it's more about having enjoyed it than understanding it. At the end when, as the Italians say, "la commedia è finita"—we're lying there in our suite at the Worldwide Hotel, about to check out and thinking, so what was that all about?

And at that moment, the door to the bedroom opens and the chorus dances into the room, singing: "What is the moral? Must be a moral. Moral tomorrow. Comedy tonight!"

OUT OF BODY EXPERIENCE RECREATED

Out-of-body experience recreated
Experts have found a way to trigger an out-of-body experience in volunteers.
The experiments, described in the Science journal, offer a scientific explanation for a phenomenon experienced by one in 10 people.

Two teams used virtual reality goggles to con the brain into thinking the body was located elsewhere.

The visual illusion plus the feel of their real bodies being touched made volunteers sense that they had moved outside of their physical bodies.

The researchers say their findings could have practical applications, such as helping take video games to the next level of virtuality so the players feel as if they are actually inside the game.

Clinically, surgeons might also be able to perform operations on patients thousands of miles away by controlling a robotic virtual self.

Teleported

For some, out-of-body experiences or OBEs occurs spontaneously, while for others it is linked to dangerous circumstances, a near-death experience, a dream-like state or use of alcohol or drugs.

We feel that our self is located where the eyes are
UCL researcher Dr Henrik Ehrsson

One theory is that it is down to how people perceive their own body - those unhappy or less in touch with their body are more likely to have an OBE.

But the two teams, from University College London, UK, and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, believe there is a neurological explanation.

Their work suggests a disconnection between the brain circuits that process visual and touch sensory information may thus be responsible for some OBEs.

In the Swiss experiments, the researchers asked volunteers to stand in front of a camera while wearing video-display goggles.

Through these goggles, the volunteers could see a camera view of their own back - a three-dimensional "virtual own body" that appeared to be standing in front of them.

When the researchers stroked the back of the volunteer with a pen, the volunteer could see their virtual back being stroked either simultaneously or with a time lag.

The volunteers reported that the sensation seemed to be caused by the pen on their virtual back, rather than their real back, making them feel as if the virtual body was their own rather than a hologram.

Volunteers

Even when the camera was switched to film the back of a mannequin being stroked rather than their own back, the volunteers still reported feeling as if the virtual mannequin body was their own.

And when the researchers switched off the goggles, guided the volunteers back a few paces, and then asked them to walk back to where they had been standing, the volunteers overshot the target, returning nearer to the position of their "virtual self".

Dr Henrik Ehrsson, who led the UCL research, used a similar set-up in his tests and found volunteers had a physiological response - increased skin sweating - when they felt their virtual self was being threatened - appearing to be hit with a hammer.

Dr Ehrsson said: "This experiment suggests that the first-person visual perspective is critically important for the in-body experience. In other words, we feel that our self is located where the eyes are."

Dr Susan Blackmore, psychologist and visiting lecturer at the University of the West of England, said: "This has at last brought OBEs into the lab and tested one of the main theories of how they occur.

"Scientists have long suspected that the clue to these extraordinary, and sometimes life-changing, experiences lies in disrupting our normal illusion of being a self behind our eyes, and replacing it with a new viewpoint from above or behind."

WHY DO MORE MEN FILE FOR DIVORCE

A judge was interviewing a woman regarding her pending divorce, "What are the grounds for your divorce?"

She replied, "About four acres and a nice little home in the middle of the property."

"I mean," he continued, "What are your relations like?"

"I have an aunt and uncle living here in town, and so do my husband's parents."

He said, "Do you have a real grudge?"

"No," she replied, "We have a two-car carport and have never really needed one."

"Please," he tried again, "is there any infidelity in your marriage?"

"Yes, both my son and daughter have stereo sets. We don't necessarily like the music, but the answer to your question is 'yes'."

"Ma'am, does your husband ever beat you up?"

"Yes," she responded, "most days he gets up earlier than I do."

Finally, in frustration, the judge asked, "Lady, why do you want a divorce?"
"Oh, I don't want a divorce," she replied. "I never wanted a divorce. It's my husband. He says he can't communicate with me."

ICICI BANK IN INDIA WITH DEVIOUS PRACTISES TO MAKE FAST BUCK

SUSPENSE ACCOUNTS IN ICICI BANK

It was a shocking experience with India’s second-largest (first in private sector) ICICI Bank that proceeds of a cheque sent for clearing were kept in suspense-account without informing the depositor about the same. On enquiry, it was revealed that ICICI Bank had a system whereby it keeps proceeds of clearing-instruments with it if the depositor forgets to mention account-number on the deposit-slip, or name differs in cheques deposited from the name given in accounts or for any other such and similar reasons, without any system to inform the depositor/account-holder. Most account-holders especially having savings accounts trust banks to be fair without caring to tally bank-statements.

Banks must not have a right to mint money by thus multiplying their suspense-accounts without informing customers about flaws in deposit-slips. Instead banks should return the cheques to depositors without sending in clearing if they find any discrepancy in the clearing-instruments as is normally done in public-sector banks. Union Finance Ministry, Reserve Bank of India and Banking Ombudsman should investigate how much public-funds are thus credited in suspense-accounts of ICICI Bank and other banks. Even public-limited companies have to inform share-holders about their not cashing dividend-warrants in a stipulated period when these are compulsorily deposited with the Government rather than being swallowed by the companies. Same should be applied with Banks so that firstly suspense-proceeds may not be allowed to be generated, or otherwise these should be in custody of government rather than Banks. ‘Right-To-Information’ Act should be extended to private sector to effectively check victimisation of consumers by such mischievous activities of private-sector Banks at a time when government has dragged public in hands of anti-public private-sector in name of free economy.

A BELIEVING BAR OWNER AND DISBELIEVING CONGREGATION

New Bar In Town

In a small midwestern conservative town, a new bar/tavern building was being built. The local church started a campaign with petitions and prayers to block the bar from opening. In spite of their efforts, work progressed. However, the week before opening, lightning struck the building and it burned to the ground.

After that, the church folks were rather smug in their outlook, until the bar owner sued the church on the grounds that the church was ultimately responsible for the demise of his building, either through direct or indirect actions or means.

In its reply to the court, the church vehemently denied all responsibility or any connection to the building's fate.

As the case made it's way into court, the judge looked over the paperwork at the hearing and commented, "I don't know how I'm going to decide this, but as it appears from the paperwork, we have a bar owner that believes in the power of prayer, and an entire congregation that doesn't!"

The Traveler

A young prince traveled to meet the wisest king in the land, so that when he became a king he could govern wisely. After getting instruction he journeyed back to the kingdom he would inherit.

Word spread of this young prince's wisdom and at every town he stopped in crowds would gather and hear him speak. However as he approached one town, an envious young man wanted to destroy his reputation. He caught a small bird that would fit in the size of his palm. At the appropriate moment he would ask the young prince "Is what I have here alive or dead? If the prince said it was alive, he would quickly crush the bird to death. If the prince said it was dead he would let it fly away. He believed that he had found the perfect plan.

The day approached and the crowds gathered. The young man asked the prince his question, "Is what I am holding alive, or dead"?

Without a moments hesitation the young king replied:

The answer is in your hands.

Nuns at a Ballgame

Sitting behind a couple of nuns at a baseball game (whose head gear partially blocked the view), three men decided to badger the nuns in an effort to get them to move.

In a very loud voice, the first guy said, "I think I’m going to move to Utah, there are only 100 nuns living there."

The second guy spoke up and said, "I want to go to Montana there are only 5o nuns living there."

The third guy said, "I want to go to Idaho, there are only 25 nuns living there."

One of the nuns turned around, looked at the men, and in a very sweet, calm, voice said:

"Why don't you go to hell? There aren't any nuns there."

HIDDEN CAMERAS IN LADIES BATHROOMS IN INDIAN JAILS

OBSCENE PHOTOS OF MONICA BEDI

Even though Supreme Court has banned TV channels to telecast obscene photos of Monica Bedi taken by a hidden camera when the former film-actress was lodged in Bhopal jail, yet it is a matter of great concern that hidden cameras were lodged in ladies-bathrooms of the jail. There is every possibility that video and still photography of other women prisoners taking bath might have been taken by the hidden camera in the jail-bathroom to be misused elsewhere also. If such is the situation in government-managed jails, everything can be possible in private-run hotels/health-clubs/resorts in this great nation. Nation Women Commission and National Human Rights Commission should take note of the incident by ensuring stringent-most action against guilty jail-employees being involved in hidden-camera incident.

Nuke Deal nukes honeymoon of Congress and Left

PM accepts that his leader is in 10 Janpath. It means UPA government is without head. Left's head is also in China. After marriage both were in honeymoon whcich is now wounded. Instead of soaring, loving couple is flapping. Without wing couple can walk instead of flying. One head is in the tour of West. Second head of East (China) is enjoying seeing nude birds. This article is on this theme. Readers may enjoy, act or react: Condom Bindaas Bol-campaign wins UN award

Valmiki of Ramayan and Rahu
The unholy honeymoon of Congress and Left kills the soul of Indian Constitution and the demoracy of the largest democratic country of the world. They are mistaken to think that their unholy honeymoon becomes an incident of Valmiki Ramayan. Valmiki became upset to see the two loving male and female birds, which were wounded by a killer.

They are also mistaken if they think that their heads are immortal as in ancient epic Rahu's head became immortal due to a fraud.

Both stories are sighted in the bottom of this article in short.

Redddish 'Headless Chicken' to com-Reds

'As media reported Indian Ambasssdor in US Mr. Sen called Nuke deatl critics as 'Headless chicken'. Due to this remork he himself becomes 'headless chicken'. Why did red become red in this proverb of English? Is remark reddished raw chicken, so they can't digest it?

Is headless chiken of UPA government in the stomatch of com-reds? This is a fact that unbearable pain is in their stomachs. 'Headless chicken' nuked them. They become wounded birds without wings. Wounded birds may walk but can't fly. Both the Houses Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha disturbed by them with the help of their enemy No. 1: BJP.

Now there is a danger of diarrhea. Unholy marriage unholy honeymoon becomes divorceable. What will be the fate of unborn politial child or children? Time to time we read news about the serial killing or born and unborn children. Few weeks back more than 400 bones of such kids found in Ratlam's Christian Hospital.

Condom Bindaas Bol-campaign wins UN

OhI my god what happened if Sanju would not get bail. I am afraid to imagine what would happen if honeymoon of Congress and Communists resulted in something. Is this the reason behind: Condom Bindaas Bol-campaign wins UN award? So many leaders honorable and dishonorable were, are the result of unholy honeymoons. Hot discussion is going on in Western Countries on the issue of abortion. Their religious head is against the right of abortion. God saves our country from this situation.

I can't imagine the possibility of honeymoon between bodies without heads or heads without bodies but loving leaders said themselves this. I recall in my two articles on the subject " Hollywood Sex Scandal for HIV/AIDS awareness": http://newsanalysisindia.com/121022007.htm
And the second one is: Shilpi Kiss kissa: Being tolerant handles a public-sex for condom?:
http://newsanalysisindia.com/130042007.htm

In one of my recently written article I have suggested adopting inter-caste marriage instead of inter-religion or inter-racial marriage. Globalized, Inter-religion marriage of Gandhis and immoral love affairs of Pt Nehru with lady Mountbetton would be happiest for them, if they were not big leaders. Being big leaders living in public domain, their steps pushed India's interess in a danger zone.. http://www.newsanalysisindia.com/106082007.htm

Transplantation in ancient India vs Fake seculars

What is the use of headless body? But Congress and Communists want to be God Shiv who transplanted an elephant's head on the body of God Ganesh. They imported and even now import foreign heads from Italy, US, China and other countries to transplant foreign corrupt heads of ideology, religion and culture on their bodies.
Headless chicken proverb means:
Formed without a head.
Decapitated.
Lacking a leader or director.
Lacking intelligence and prudence; stupid or foolish

Ganesh became without head. Lord Shiva transplanted the head of an elephant on him. UPA's head is in Balu (sand) as Kangaroo. So they can't see the reality of Ram Sethu (Adam's Bridge). Spanish Doctors Performs World's First Hand Transplantation Successfully convert a man's right hand into his left, transplanting it onto the left arm and changing the place of the thumb, as media report in June, 2007.

Samdamanthan Canal Project to ruin Ram Sethu

Anti-Hindus Indianless government wants to ruin Ram Sethu by not changing the route of Samudramanthan Canal Project. What will remain without Hinduism in India? What will remain without the head?

India is now in the grip of duplicates in every field including politics, religion and ideology. There are some elements in higher positions who have no pride in the glorious ancient history of India. They may be Non-Hindus or selfish Indians followers of foreign heads, foreign hands and foreign ideology. These fake Indian leaders with Hindu names and Hindu make up to lead the country and to convert the tribal and poor innocent Hindus who are following Hindu religion, Sikh and Baudh panths.

Samudramanthan and Rahu

According to legend, during the Samudra manthan, the asura Rahu, disguised himself as an Aditya, and drank some of the divine nectar. But before the nectar could pass his throat, Mohini (the female avatar of Vishnu) cut off his head with Her Sudarshana Chakra. The head, however, remained immortal. It is believed that this immortal head occasionally swallows the sun or the moon, causing eclipses. Then, the sun or moon passes through the opening at the neck, ending the eclipse.

The head, due to its contact with the amrita, remained immortal. It is believed that this immortal head occasionally swallows the sun or the moon, causing eclipses. Then, the sun or moon passes through the opening at the neck, ending the eclipse.
The story ends with the rejuvenated Adityas defeating the Asuras.

Valmiki of Ramayan cursed the killer whose arrow wounded the loving birds

Valmiki of Ramayana watched two small white waterbirds in a tree nearby. The male bird was singing to his mate when before Valmiki's eyes an arrow hit him, and the little bird fell from the limb. He thrashed on the ground an instant and then lay dead, and blood drops stained his feathers.
Heartbroken the dead bird's mate cried--Your long feathers! Your tuneful songs!

A bird-hunter came from the forest holding a bow. Valmiki's heart was pounding and he cursed the killer -- You will find no rest for the long years of Eternity, For you killed a bird in love and unsuspecting.
One look at Valmiki and the hunter ran for his life, but fever already burned in his blood; he died that day.

These Anti-Hindu Indianless leaders are misusing the name of Samudramanthan to ruin Ram Sethu.

WASHINGTON - Impotence drugs such as Viagra may do more than help men physically have sex — they may also boost levels of a hormone linked with feelings of love, U.S. researchers reported on Thursday.

Viagra, known generically as sildenafil, raised levels of the hormone oxytocin in rats, the team at the University of Wisconsin-Madison said in a report published in the Journal of Physiology.

This hormone is involved in nursing and childbirth but also in orgasm and feelings of sexual pleasure.

And it seems Viagra and related drugs act on the part of the brain that controls release of oxytocin, said Wisconsin physiology professor Meyer Jackson.

“This is one piece in a puzzle in which many pieces are still not available,” Jackson said in a statement. “But it raises the possibility that erectile dysfunction drugs could be doing more than just affecting erectile dysfunction.”

More uses for Viagra?
Viagra, made by Pfizer Inc., is an inhibitor of an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5. Related drugs such as Eli Lilly and Co.’s Cialis, known generically as tadalafil, and Levitra or vardenafil, sold by GlaxoSmithKline, Bayer AG and Schering-Plough, are also PDE-5 inhibitors.

Test yourself

Impotence: How much do you know?

They block this enzyme, which in turn breaks down other compounds. This increases blood flow in the muscles but it also affects a brain structure known as the posterior pituitary.

This, in turn, boosts oxytocin, at least in the rats. It probably does the same thing in people, Jackson said.

“It does the same thing it does in smooth muscle — instead of (levels) coming down in a minute or two, they stay up a little longer,” Jackson said in a telephone interview.

Oxytocin was known for years to be involved in labor and it is the hormone that causes the “let-down” of milk in breastfeeding babies. Only in recent decades has it been found to have a function in men — in sexual arousal and function.

This could suggest other uses for Viagra and related drugs, Jackson said — perhaps promoting social bonding.

“What I hope is that people read our paper who can test these ideas in animals and humans,” Jackson said.

“I hope that this doesn’t cause some wild orgy of inappropriate recreational use.”

Some groups have complained that people use the impotence drugs for fun, instead of using them as prescribed for sexual dysfunction caused by low blood flow to the genitals.

The drugs can cause fatal side effects if used with certain other drugs, and some studies also suggest they may affect the eyes in some patients, so doctors stress they are not for casual use.

Viagra (sildenafil citrate)

Maker: Pfizer
Viagra works by blocking the enzyme that breaks down the substance that helps maintain erections.
Advantages: Viagra is the most widely known drug used to treat impotence, with an estimated 70-80 percent of men who take the little blue pill able to achieve and maintain an erection. Manufacturer Pfizer reports that some men can get an erection in as little as 14 minutes, but it generally takes up to an hour to work and effectiveness lasts 4-6 hours.

Cautions: Skip the heavy meal as food interferes with Viagra’s absorption into the body. Because men take a larger dosage of Viagra than its rivals, side effects -- including headaches, flushing, blue-tinged vision and indigestion -- can be bothersome. Men using drugs containing any form of nitrate (like nitroglycerin for heart pain) should not use Viagra. A dangerous drop in blood pressure could result. Viagra also should not be used within 4 hours of taking an alpha blocker, a drug for benign prostate conditions that helps men urinate.

MILDEST PUNISHMENT TO MPS FOR SERIOUS CRIME

PUNISHMENT FOR MP

Indian parliamentarians are certainly at advantage than normal citizens when they get mildest token punishment on adopting fraudulent means of cheating and impersonation curtsey often-misused privilege of being Member of Parliament. Rajesh Kumar Manjhi (RJD) has been debarred just for 30 sittings of the Lok Sabha for misusing travel-pass of his wife for another woman travelling with him. Guilty MP even misguided the parliamentary-committee by giving false evidence under oath, which even requires even extra punishment. Exemplary punishment for such acts should be disqualifying from membership of the Parliament, in addition to punishment for all these acts as per normal law of land. Parliamentarians should be role-model in their conduct, and punishment for their crimes should be ideally maximum possible which may be much more than stipulated for ordinary citizens.

INFECTIOUS DISEASES SPREADING/EMERGENCY FASTER....

BBC NEWS
WHO warns of global epidemic risk
Infectious diseases are spreading faster than ever before, the World Health Organization annual report says.

With about 2.1 billion airline passengers flying each year, there is a high risk of another major epidemic such as Aids, Sars or Ebola fever.

The WHO urges increased efforts to combat disease outbreaks, and sharing of virus data to help develop vaccines.

Without this, it says, there could be devastating impacts on the global economy and international security.

In the report, A Safer Future, the WHO says new diseases are emerging at the "historically unprecedented" rate of one per year.

International public health security is both a collective aspiration and a mutual responsibility
Margaret Chan
WHO director-general

Since the 1970s, 39 new diseases have developed, and in the last five years alone, the WHO has identified more than 1,100 epidemics including cholera, polio and bird flu.

"It would be extremely naive and complacent to assume that there will not be another disease like Aids, another Ebola, or another Sars, sooner or later," the report says.

Sharing of medical data, skills and technology between rich and poor nations is "one of the most feasible routes" to health security, it says.

Openness needed

The WHO is embroiled in a dispute with Indonesia over its H5N1 bird flu virus samples.

These include bird flu, Sars, also Ebola, Marburg and Nipah viruses

Jakarta has refused to share its samples with the WHO amid fears that pharmaceutical companies will use them to make vaccines that are too expensive for Indonesia.

China only started sharing its H5N1 samples in June.

The WHO report also urges governments to be open about disease outbreaks, saying nearly half of all outbreak alerts it receives come from the media.

Drug resistance also poses a threat to disease control, the WHO says, blaming misuse of antibiotics and poor medical treatment, particularly in the case of tuberculosis.

In an introduction to the report, WHO Director-General Margaret Chan says co-operation is crucial to combat outbreaks.

"Given today's universal vulnerability to these threats, better security calls for global solidarity," Dr Chan says.

"International public health security is both a collective aspiration and a mutual responsibility."

ON IMPORTANT NUMBERS

On important numbers

The desire to appear more important than one is universal. The Dilliwala hawker who sold chholey-bhatoorey made a killing by means yet to be established. His trade could not possibly have earned him enough to buy and maintain a fleet of 17 limousines. He must have known he could ride on only one at a time. So he had to devise means to tell the world that he was a VIP.

I have no doubt he would have liked to fly the tri-colour in front of his car or have a red or a blue light flashing on the bonnet. Since neither option was available to him, he went for the third one: a distinguished number plate like 0001 or 2 or 3. He managed to wangle them for his cars. Now the envious world has turned against him; they are calling him an upstart and baying for his blood.

My father also loved new cars and fancy number plates. It took him many years to make enough money to have three or four cars. Since he was also an honorary magistrate, and at the time there were few cars on Delhi roads, his munshi was able to get changa numbers for them. The head clerk decided to have fun at my poor father’s expense. For one car he allotted the number DLH 10, and for the other DLH 420. It took my father some days to realise what the two numbers stood for.

I also know about two members of the heaven-born Indian Civil Service posted successively as Deputy Commissioners of Ambala (then a part of Punjab). One allotted his car number PBA 1. When he was transferred to Chandigarh, his successor wrote to him to surrender the number so that he could have it for himself. The man refused to do so. Regardless of the refusal, the successor allotted the same number to himself.

So at a conference of senior civil servants in Chandigarh, the two cars with exactly the same number plates were seen parked alongside. Believe it or not, but it is absolutely true, God himself tried to have fun at the expense of these two arrogant officers.

Over the weekend they went off for breaks: one to Shimla, the other to Kasauli. On their way back, the cars collided near the gate of a police station at Dharampur. There was exchange of hot words, but neither was in a position to lodge a complaint against the other.

The Smiths of Agra and Delhi

No one will dispute that when it comes to writing on monuments of Delhi — known, like known or unknown — no one does a better job than RV Smith.

He not only tells you their history but also the legends attached to them. So do Akhilesh Mittal and Rakhshanda Jalil.
RV Smith is more prolific; his articles appear in just about every English paper in the country. I often wondered where he collects all this information and inspiration. Now I know the answer: its all in his blood; he inherited it from his father Thomas Smith (1910-1995) of Agra.

The Smiths were soldiers of fortune serving in armies of warlords willing to pay them well. Thomas Smith’s father Colonel Salvador Smith (1784-1871) was a commander in the army of Daulat Rao Scindia. Thomas also started life as a soldier but was persuaded by a family friend Nawab Faiyaz Khan Sherwani to take over as the local correspondent for The Statesman of Calcutta. Thomas readily agreed to replace his musket for the pen. Among the celebrated cases he reported was that of his English predecessor Fred Ellis, who was involved in a brawl with one BD Gupta at a meeting of the Agra Cantonment Board. Gupta lost his temper and hit the Englishman three times with his chappal. A subordinate magistrate, popularly known as Ghanta Babu, heard the case. He used to have a gong struck whenever a case was called before him. Ghanta Babu convicted Gupta for the offence of hitting a man of the ruling race. Gupta went and appealed to the Allahabad High Court. The judge passed strictures on Ghanta Babu saying he was not fit to be a magistrate but the syce of a British officer.

Thomas Smith was a versatile man. Besides his mother tongue English, (he was an Anglo-Indian) he knew Urdu, Persian and Hindi. During his leisure hours, he cycled around the Agra ruins in his short-sleeved shirt, khaki shorts and solar topee on his head, picking up information on monuments he visited.

In the evening he would dress in kurta-pyjama to attend mushairas and kavi sammelans. He often visited Delhi. During World War II, he interviewed Pandit Nehru, MA Jinnah and the Mufti of Jerusalem.

In 60 years of journalism, besides representing The Statesman, Thomas Smith edited Globe magazine, The Agra Citizen and Agra Times, as well as reported for Reuters. He also worked for The Times of India, The Pioneer and The Hindustan Times. His son RVS published his Rambles and Recollections of Thomas Smith.

Thomas Smith married an Armenian lady Ruby Irene who gave him seven children — four sons and three daughters. She died in 1989; her husband followed her six years later. Both are buried in Agra.

AS THE CHINESE SAYING GOES CHEAP THINGS NO GOOD, GOOD THINGS NO CHEAP

Chopsticks picked up in new China scare

Wed Aug 22, 9:42 AM ET

BEIJING (Reuters) - A Beijing factory sold up to 100,000 pairs of disposable chopsticks a day without any form of disinfection, a newspaper said on Wednesday, the latest in a string of food and product safety scares.

Counterfeit, shoddy and dangerous products are widespread in China, whose exports have been rocked in recent months by a spate of safety scandals, ranging from pet food to medicine, tires, toothpaste and toys.

Officials raided the factory and seized about half a million pairs of disposable bamboo chopsticks and a packaging machine, the Beijing News said in a story headlined "Dirty Chopsticks."

The owner, identified only by his surname Wu, said he had sold the chopsticks for 0.04 yuan a pair and made an average of about 1,000 yuan ($130) a day.

Wu, who had no license to sell the goods, said he had sold 100,000 pairs a day when business was good.

China lacks the manpower to enforce food and drug safety regulations at home or for export. Imports are generally carefully scrutinized.

Shao Mingli, the country's food and drug watchdog chief, conceded that in recent years the safety situation had "indeed been relatively grim."

But in a posting on the central government's Web site (www.gov.cn), Shao vowed it would take "about five years of hard work" to realize an "obvious turnaround" in management order and food and drug safety across the country.

"The number of cases of fake food and drug products and criminal activities will be effectively curbed," Shao said.

A lack of business ethics and a spiritual vacuum after China embraced economic reforms in the late 1970s have been blamed for unscrupulous business practices and corruption.

In Guangzhou, capital of booming Guangdong province in south China, Mayor Zhang Guangning vowed to bankrupt serious violators of food and product safety.

The Hong Kong owner of a Guangdong manufacturer at the centre of a recall of millions of Chinese-made toys by U.S. giant Mattel had committed suicide, according to Hong Kong media.

China has said the world should have faith in the "made-in-China" label and that a spate of product recalls has been unfair, biased and politically motivated.

"No country can guarantee their food to be 100 percent safe, but if one in 100 or even in 1,000 of our products has quality problems, we will deal with it seriously," Commerce Minister Bo Xilai said on Tuesday.

"China strongly opposes (some countries) extending individual economic and trade problems, and thus conducting trade protection," Bo said in a report on the ministry's Web site (www.mofcom.gov.cn).

In the latest in a series of tit-for-tat measures, China has accused the United States of exporting substandard soybean shipments to China and requested "effective measures" be taken.

WOULD YOU CALL THIS A FLAWLESS MAN OR A PROPHET OF GOD?

Subject: Would you call this a flawless man or a Prophet of God?

Let's all have some healthy curiosity to learn the details about the second largest religion of the world. Let us also find out from our close Muslim friends how much of this history about their prophet they get to learnor dare to believe.

Prophet Muhammad was a flawless man.....

Prophet Muhammad was a flawless man....
http://www.hinduvoi ce.net/cgi- bin/dada/ mail.cgi? flavor=archive& id=2007080914184 7&list=nll

A press released appeared on Aug 5, in the Ananda Bazar Patrika, a Calcutta
based Bengali
daily, says that Mufti Maulana Basir Uddin, a senior Islamic scholar of
Kashmir, has promulgated a fatwa against a Muslim author Mr Waheed Uddin
Khan who has alleged to have passed derogatory comments on Hajrat Muhammad,
the prophet of Islam in a recent writing. The fatwa has asked the Muslim
community to stop reading the writings of Mr Khan. Mr Waheed Uddin Khan
runs a monthly Islamic magazine Ar-Riasala, and he is the editor of the said
monthly. The same author had to face the wrath of the fanatics over the
contents of his another writing in the recent past. But this time, even the
liberal Muslims is said to gone against him.

The controversy began when the current edition of the Ar-Riasala where he
has written that
Prophet Muhammad was not beyond mundane attributes. He was not beyond right
and wrong. Mufti Basir Uddin, on the other hand, is convinced that, "There
should not be any controversy among the believers that Hajrat Muhammad was a
flawless man. If any one contradicts this through his writings, then he is a
wrong-doer. He has committed the unpardonable sin of insulting Islam and
insulting the Prophet". But hardly it was noticed by anybody when the
alleged objectionable part of the writing came out in the magazine. It was a
member of the Dakhtaran-i- Millat, a women's organization, spotted the
offensive part in Waheed Uddin's writing and informed the Mufti Maulana
Basir about it.

In fact, Islam does not allow anyone to make a rational estimate of Prophet
Muhammad, his life and deeds. The followers are permitted only to praise him
for everything he did, without passing any critical remark. He should always
be projected as a flawless man and an apostle of peace by concealing his
terribly cruel deeds like massacring the Jews of Kuraiza and Nazir clan and
indiscriminate killings of Arab infidels organizing 82 raids and military
campaigns during his ten years' stay at Medina. Every Muslims has to
discover divinity in his marrying 12 (or more) wives in his declining years,
including his marrying Ayesha at the age of 52, when Ayesha was child of 6,
and his marrying Zainab, the wife of his adopted son Zeid.

Islam as a creed does not allow free thinking and as soon as an individual
embraces Islam, he has to surrender his right of free thinking and hence it
can be said that Muslims as a community around the world are intellectually
enslaved by the creed of Islam. Or, more pointedly, they are a community of
people enslaved by the Koran. The creed of Islam may be compared with
delicate glassware hanging from with a fine thread. In fact, the kalema "La
Ilaha Illalla Mahammadur Rasulullah" (i.e. Allah is the only God to be
worshipped and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah) is the thread. If it
brakes, the entire edifice of Islam would fall and brake into pieces. And
that is the reason Islam cannot tolerate any criticism against the Prophet
and the image of the Prophet is to be preserved for the survival of Islam.
And hence a rational estimate about his life and deed is taken as blasphemy
and any individual who dares to commit such a crime is to be punished with
death. Every year, a few thousand people are killed for their alleged
blasphemy against the Prophet.

In the Muslim community, there is a practice that can be said the exchange
marriage, where two male members exchange their daughters in marriage. In
Arabia, during the time of the Prophet, the practice was known as the
Shighar Marriage. In the recent past, the Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden
and his Chief Commander Omar did a similar marriage by exchanging their
daughters- Omar married Osama's daughter and Osama married Omar's daughter.
In a similar manner, Prophet Muhammad and his dearest friend Abu-Bakr
entered into an agreement – Abu Bakr agreed to give his six year-old
daughter Ayesha to Muhammad and Muhammad agreed give his daughter Fatima to
Abu Bakr, in marriage. At the time of this agreement, Abu Bakr had 16 wives
in his harem in Mecca. The incident is sufficient to show the lechery of the
Arabs and the status of women in Arabian society at that time of the
Prophet.

So in the first year of Hijri, child Ayesha was married to the Prophet, at
Abu Bakr's house in Medina. But the Prophet refrained to discharge his part
of the agreement and stopped even to mention it. After waiting for a few
months in vain, Abu Bakr reminded the Prophet of the matter and the Prophet
said that he was waiting to receive a command from Allah in this regard. But
the hard truth was that that command from Allah he never received and Abu
Bakr had to give up his desire to have Fatima as a wife. So when a Muslim
asserts that Muhammad of Arabia was the purest and flawless man, a
nonbeliever kafir become confused and starts to think – how a man, who could
marry a 6 year-old child at the age of 52, can be the purest and most
flawless man?

It also becomes unbelievable for a kafir, how a man, who could massacre 800
able Jew male members of the Medina, belonging to the Kuraiza clan, in a
single day, sell their women and children as slaves and sleep with Rihana,
the most charming of them in the same night the massacre took place, can be
called most flawless and purest man on earth? Only to create terror among
the non-Muslims of the city of Medina, the Prophet decided to massacre the
entire clan of Kuraiza Jews of Medina. On the previous night a ditch, big
enough for burying 800 people, was dug in the Market-place of Medina and the
victims (800 male and more than 1000 women and children) were shut up in a
yard, men separated from women and children.

The beheading began in the next morning, just after the Fazr Prayer.
Mohammad commanded to bring forth the male captives in batches of five or
six at a time. Each company, as it came up, was ordered to lie down, with
the face down, in a row on the brink of the ditch. Muhammad's uncles Jubair,
Hamja, Talha and cousin Ali kept themselves busy in chopping their heads off
and kick the corpses into the ditch.

To describe the incident Sir W Muir, the celebrated biographer of the
Prophet, writes, "The
butchery, begun in the morning, lasted all day, and continued by torchlight
till the evening.
Having thus drenched the market-place with the blood of seven or eight
hundred victims, and having been commanded for the earth to be smoothed
over their remains, Mohammad returned from the horrid spectacle to solace
himself with the charms of Reihaha, whose husband and all her male relatives
had just perished in the massacre. He invited her to be his wife; but she
declined, and chose to remain his slave or concubine". The Life of Mahomet,
Voice of India, New Delhi, 1992)

She declined to embrace Islam, but it is said, however that she afterwards
embraced Islam. Sir W Muir continues, "The booty was divided into four
classes – lands, chattels, cattle and slaves; and Mohammad took a fifth of
each. There were a thousand captives; from his share of these, Mohammad made
certain presents to his friends of slave girls and female servants. The rest
of the women and children he sent to be sold among the Bedawi tribes of
Nejd, in exchange for horses and arms in the service of the State. …. The
remaining property was divided amongst the 3,000 soldiers of Medina, to the
highest bidder among whom the women were also sold"( W
Muir, ibid ).

The two incidents described above is more than enough for an intelligent
reader to understand how pure and flawless was Muhammad, the Prophet of
Islam. There are other incidents like his marrying of the wife of his
adopted son Zeid, his invading Khoibar and massacring the Jews of the Nazir
clan and marrying Safia, his punishing eight criminals, his massacring Arab
infidels by organizing 82 raids during his ten years stay in Medina and so
on and so forth, that helps one to understand how pure and flawless the
Prophet of Arabia was.
